Week two in the Neurodiversity in Literature course I’m teaching at @UCBerkeley and it’s NeuroTribes, by @stevesilberman, that we’ll be discussing the next few days. Sacks, who would’ve turned 90 recently, wrote the foreword; it’s great to think he was around to read this book.

It’s worth remembering that ‘SEN’ is a policy choice, not an innate way of being. Those so-labelled arise from the inaccessibility of the education offered. If the numbers of kids with SEN is rising, it’s an indication that the the education offered is becoming less inclusive.
