The outrage over temporary lack of access to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre while Iran is trying to bomb it highlights one of the reasons I left Catholicism.
There is an obsession with ritual over the heart of faith.
You don’t have to worship THERE bc it’s Palm Sunday.
Christ wants you to worship Him & preach His death and resurrection.
He doesn’t care if you do it with a yearly procession in a certain place.
Now if worship itself was banned (as it is in many Islamic countries), then that would be heinous.
But it’s not.
A Christian site (along with Jewish sites like the Western Wall) is simply closed while an Islamic regime is trying to bomb it.
People who say they are filled with grief and horror not to worship in this exact spot miss the heart of Palm Sunday.

@Fair_and_Biased Thank you for expressing my inability to be Catholic. The rituals seem to be the number one priority instead of teaching the flock The Word. I don’t do rituals well - never have. Had trouble reciting my 4-H Club pledge, couldn’t join Rainbow Club because the rituals bothered me.

So you left Catholicism and still don’t understand what worship is.
How do you know what Christ wants? Your feelings?
And Palm Sunday isn’t about convenience. It’s about participation in what actually happened. Procession, place and action. That’s biblical worship, not the TED talk you now call church.
If you couldn’t discern true worship when you were Catholic, why should anyone trust your uninformed opinion now?

@gonefishin1948 I know a really dirty priest. I rented a studio from one priest, him knowing I was a devout Catholic, and a mother didn't prevent him from trying to forcefully lay his filthy lips on mine. I escaped from his grip by the special grace of God.

There are priests who have done horrible things.
I have reported two of them to the authorities.
If you think ALL priests are doing horrible things, put your filthy imagination away and ask God to forgive you.

In 2003 I was not Catholic, but found myself in Spain for Holy Week.
I had never even heard of a religious procession. But on my way home one night I got cut off by one. It was like getting mugged by history, tradition, beauty, and Catholicism all at once. It was glorious.

Over the past several weeks, Carrie Prejean Boller has complained that she was removed from the Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty because of her Catholic beliefs, and she has called out myself and other Catholic members of the commission for not defending her. This is absurd. Mrs. Prejean Boller was not dismissed for her religious convictions but rather for her behavior at a gathering of the Commission last month: browbeating witnesses, aggressively asserting her point of view, hijacking the meeting for her own political purposes. The Catholic position on matters of “Zionism,” to which I fully subscribe, is as follows: all forms of antisemitism are to be unequivocally condemned; the state of Israel has a right to exist; but the modern nation of Israel does not represent the fulfillment of Biblical prophecies and hence does not stand beyond criticism. If Mrs. Prejean Boller were dismissed for holding these beliefs, it is difficult to understand why I am still a member of the Commission. To paint herself as a victim of anti-Catholic prejudice or to claim that her religious liberty has been denied is simply preposterous.
