Folks, theater etiquette has to improve. A couple next to me at Backrooms brought in sushi & used their phone to light the food so they could eat with chopsticks. I don’t enjoy ranting/complaining about this sort of thing, but we as a society have to be better. Like come on.

The Mandalorian and Grogu would have worked better, and been better received as season 4, and would have been a nice pallet cleanser after the drop off of S3. It just doesn’t work as a movie. However, it completely ignores the events of S3, so there’s that.

I’m fascinated by what movies are given a pass, and what are scrutinised and dismissed when it comes to the mechanics of the story conceit.

The most unrealistic aspect of Obsession is how many members of staff work at that music store. I counted at least 5 plus the owner…

Obsession was another solid high concept horror. Steadily cranked up the mania for gruesome, tragic results. Great performances by all. Creepy smile, laugh, movements and outbursts.

@MidlandsMovies There’s this weird response from some in the fan community that if you either liked or disliked a certain thing, then you must have an agenda of sorts. No nuance. Tribalism. People not secure in their own opinion. I want to love all Star Wars, but I also want a well told story.

@TheLG1000 Glad to see this - it's a good place to be. Enjoy franchises but calling out a duffer is the way to go. For me, very similar - Awakens, Last Jedi, Andor, Mando 1 & 2 & Obi Wan (fan film cut) are all solid and beyond. Rise is an abomination and Ashoka & Boba didnt work for me

I’m the guy that on a whole enjoyed, Star Wars sequel trilogy, Mando S1 & 2, Boba Fett, Obi Wan, Andor, Skeleton Crew, Rebels, and Clone Wars. I wanted to like The Mandalorian and Grogu, but it wasn’t good. I watch this stuff with rose tinted glasses, but even mine were shattered

Caught the highlights of Usyk vs Verhoeven. Usyk looked horrendous against a guy who had a very route one style but carried power. Got a touch by the refs on that one, similar to Fury vs Ngannou.

The extremes of Star Wars fandom are infantile. You can like something and not be a shill, and you can dislike something and not be a hater. There is toxic fandom at both ends of the scale.

The Mandalorian & Grogu was so so. Shameless cash grab of what was clearly episodes stitched into a movie. Some fun action set-pieces. Puppets & models great. Thin story, no character development, poor screenplay. Soundmix & score a mess. CGI & design too cartoonish…
