Separatism vs. Federalism I am not a separatist. I do not support Alberta leaving Canada. However, I absolutely understand why many Albertans are frustrated, and pretending those frustrations aren't legitimate only fuels the divide. Those like Wab Kinew who are pissing on Alberta having its democratic say, are the beneficiaries and recipients, of Alberta, its taxpayers, and resources. Unless you’re lobbying Mark Carney or your premier to support Alberta, just shut the fuck up because you wouldn’t accept this: Alberta's Grievances: 1. Equalization Payments We're constantly told Albertans "don't understand how equalization works." That's not the issue. People understand that equalization is funded through federal revenues and distributed to provinces with lower fiscal capacity. What frustrates Albertans is that Alberta is consistently one of the largest net contributors to Canada's economy and tax base, while often feeling that its concerns are ignored. Albertans are contributing billions (4.6) while receiving nothing in return. That money is not delivered by fairies. It’s not coming from the government. It’s coming from the Alberta taxpayer. 2. Representation Alberta is politically marginalized. Regardless of population growth, (fastest growing in Canada) Alberta has limited influence over federal elections and national policy decisions compared to more vote-rich regions of the country. (Often the recipients of Alberta cash…ahem…Quebec). 3. Resource Development Albertans aren't asking for anything. They just want responsible development of their natural resources under strong environmental and regulatory oversight. The frustration comes from years of delays, regulatory uncertainty, political interference, and shifting rules that discourage investment and stall projects. Investors want certainty, and Alberta has often struggled to provide it because of federal roadblocks and prolonged approval processes. While frustrations are real, separation comes with serious consequences: 1) Alberta would remain landlocked and dependent on negotiations with neighbouring provinces and the United States for market access. 2) Canadians living in Alberta would lose their Canadian citizenship rights and passport benefits unless special arrangements were made. 3) A new country would need to establish its own military, border services, currency framework, and international agreements. •Economic uncertainty would likely cause significant investor concern during the transition period. •Trade relationships, pensions, federal transfers, and countless legal agreements would all need to be renegotiated. The answer isn't separation. The answer is a federal system that works better for everyone - one where Alberta's contributions are recognized, its concerns are heard, and national prosperity isn't achieved by sidelining one of the country's largest economic engines. @ABDanielleSmith @MarkJCarney #CdnPoli #Alberta #Referendum

Prince William has anyways been more mature anyway, but absolutely! I’ve always maintained that the person you’re with has a profound impact on who you are as a human being. Harry, already bitter and jealous, married a narcisstic woman who played to every weakness he had and created weaknesses and isolation everywhere she could for her own personal gain.
Amanda Platell@amandajplatell

Sad as I feel for Harry, made me think: why hasn’t William suffered in the same way with unresolved grief? Why isn’t he a bitter and angry man raging like a child against the injustice of the world? And clear as a bell, a simple answer came to me: Because he has Kate.

I’m assuming you’ve seen this video but just in case you haven’t, this tourist did nothing wrong. That bison was just in a really bad mood. From what I’ve heard the man is still in the hospital. Idk how you avoid this. Yikes!!

The Sussex squad's determination to paint William and Catherine as bad parents would almost be amusing if it weren't so predictable. Apparently, George wearing a suit to Wimbledon is now being presented as evidence that he's "awkward," "uncomfortable," and somehow doesn't know how to interact with ordinary people. Based on what, exactly? A few photos and seconds of video? The facts tell a very different story. George, Charlotte, and Louis attend school with other children, participate in sports, school events, and extracurricular activities, have friendships outside the royal bubble, and have repeatedly been seen chatting naturally with members of the public during walkabouts and official engagements. William and Catherine have consistently spoken about giving their children as normal an upbringing as possible, despite the extraordinary circumstances of their lives. Their children are seen laughing, joking, and behaving like children whenever the occasion allows. As for George wearing a suit—he was sitting in the Royal Box at one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world. There is a long-standing expectation of formal dress in those settings, particularly for members of the Royal Family. Dressing appropriately for the occasion isn't evidence of an unhappy childhood; it's called understanding the occasion. The reality is that no amount of evidence will satisfy people who have already decided their conclusion. If George smiles, it's "performative." If he's serious, he's "miserable." If he's well-mannered, he's "controlled." The goalposts are constantly moved because the narrative comes first and the facts come second. These children shouldn't become props in an online fan war. They deserve the same grace and common sense that people would expect for any child attending a long public event under the scrutiny of millions.

People seem to be unfairly blaming this tourist who was seriously injured Friday evening in Yellowstone after a bull bison tossed him about 8 feet into the air. A photographer said it was “angry, agitated and charging anything and everything.”

@hunleyeric From what I heard the tourists were a safe distance away and not doing anything to agitate the bison.

@hunleyeric I mean, who else do you blame? The bison? It’s an animal. In a protected park, no less. Do you really think this bison cares if there are picnic tables there or people who are curious about him?

Awww muffin, maybe if you speak nicely to the wild animal (who’s in his own PROTECTED AREA) and explain you’re just there for a walk or to “sit at a picnic table” and admire him, he won’t be a wild animal anymore going about his business in its own territory. Try that with a Grizz next.
