One question I’ve been asked consistently over the years is:
“Is trading real?”
“Do you actually make money from trading?”
And honestly, I understand why people ask.
For years, social media has been flooded with people using fake trading lifestyles to lure unsuspecting beginners. Expensive cars, rented apartments, fake profits, fabricated testimonials, edited results, and mentorships built more on marketing than actual trading.
When that’s all people keep seeing, skepticism becomes a normal reaction.
What makes it even worse is when individuals with influence, people who should know better and protect their audience, publicly endorse those same scammers despite the countless stories, complaints, and evidence surrounding their fake results, fake testimonies, and mentorship scams.
That damages the credibility of the entire industry.
The truth is, trading is real. People genuinely make a living from it. But the biggest challenge isn’t proving that trading works. It’s helping people separate real traders from people who simply know how to sell a dream.
The industry doesn’t have a trading problem.
It has a credibility problem.

“The moment someone says, “He is not a good trader,” my first question is always: based on what?
• One losing trade?
• A blown account?
• A bad month?
• A screenshot you saw online?
Trading isn’t a profession where competence is measured by being right every day. Even the best traders spend long periods taking losses, sitting on their hands, or underperforming. That’s part of the game.
The internet has conditioned people to judge traders by outcomes instead of process. If someone posts profits, they’re called a genius. If they post losses, they’re suddenly ‘not a good trader.’ That’s a shallow way to assess skill.
A good trader isn’t someone who never loses. A good trader has an edge, follows a plan, manages risk, and survives long enough for probability to work in their favor. Those things rarely go viral because they’re boring, but they’re what actually separate professionals from gamblers.
What’s even more interesting is that many of the loudest critics have never had to manage capital through different market conditions. They’ve never experienced drawdowns, changing volatility, or the psychological pressure that comes with real money. Yet they’re always the first to hand out verdicts.
Before you conclude that someone isn’t a good trader, ask yourself whether you’re evaluating a career or just a moment.
Because in trading, one moment proves very little. Consistency over time proves everything.
