Microsoft has confirmed plans to make "behind-the-scenes platform changes" on Windows 11 this year. The company is now testing the next phase of Windows 11, as it releases the first 26300 series build to Insiders in the Dev Channel. Microsoft says these preview builds will likely come with new known issues during the testing phase. Build number jumps usually take place when Microsoft is preparing to shape the next version of Windows 11. In this case, 26300 could end up shipping this fall as version 26H2.

You used to be able to just create a Native GUI App in 10 seconds. No Electron, no Game Engines, no Web frameworks. Just a lean fast .EXE produced in seconds. Works on any Windows machine WITHOUT Internet connection. Software Development is actually going backwards.

“Unused RAM is wasted RAM” is a phrase I would’ve said sarcastically as a joke in response to poorly performing (so 99% of) software. These days, many programmers unironically believe it. Zero consideration for system resources. Zero consideration for other programs on a multi-tasking operating system. Zero exposure to what these systems actually feel like on normal consumer hardware. Zero responsibility. x.com/auxiliarymoose…

The founder of the Elementary OS Linux distro says that the creator of AppImage (@probonopd) is against “human rights”, follows a “known Nazi piece of s**t” (@LundukeJournal), and creates “fash tech”. Others on Mastodon agree with the Elementary OS founder. Such as this “Squirrel transfem bisexual” (which I believe means “man who thinks he’s a girl who thinks he’s a… squirrel”), who adds that “XLibre, Omarchy, and AppImage” are all made “primarily by fascists”. … “Fash tech”. “Known Nazi piece of s**t”. “Squirrel transfem bisexual”. This is what passes for discourse within Open Source nowadays.

Sora is getting out of hand @dhh "I'm the bearer and bringer of gifts" 😎

i’m convinced 100% of people’s complaints about the touchbar could’ve been solved if Apple had just designed it like this instead:

we are officially working on opentui - a library for building terminal UIs in typescript it is built on the work of kmdrfx - we are sponsoring him to solve this problem once and for all clip is not sped up and it's running entirely in the terminal - link to repo in reply
