No one declares themselves king in South Africa. We have laws governing the recognition of traditional leaders. This march was a destructive joke that hurt innocent people. Xenophobia is self-hate 💔 #StopXenophobia

If Dudu Zuma and Bonginkosi Khanyile can face prosecution for instigating the #July2021Unrest without being physically at the scenes, then the law must be applied equally here. It's time for @SAPoliceService and @NPA_Prosecutes to bring the same energy to the March and March xenophobic organizers. No one is above the law. Accountability for the planners AND the looters.

@JacintaNgobese Different parties march and demonstrate together from time to time for different reasons, but to you what's important is the tribal identities. Zulu and Xhosas, Smashing and nton ntoni...you are creating your own tribalistic history.

@gndzongana But what Ngizwe went to East London was no different to what he marched in KZN for. He went to East London to continue his hateful crusade in support of ActionSA and March and March. Also, there are no communities leading themselves anywhere, they are mislead by Ngizwe, Mashaba,

My fellow South Africans, I have been consistent in saying that we should not use hate to disagree with people we do not like. We must learn to be tolerant of different views. What some of you are doing to Ngizwe is exactly what Ngizwe and many others are doing to Comrade President Julius Malema. They hate Comrade Malema even when he is saying the right thing. Now you are doing the same to Ngizwe, even when he did the right thing by rejecting the notion that he is a tribalist. He went to the land of the AmaXhosa, marched with them, and displayed unity. Although his words sometimes distorted his actions because he misused the platform by expressing hate against Comrade President Julius Malema, that does not mean you must condemn his intentions for going to KuGompo yesterday. Condemning him makes you no different from the way you label Ngizwe as divisive and tribalist. Your hate for him blinds you, so you fail to see when he is doing the right thing. We must also understand that we are in politics. In politics, we will not agree on everything, and we do not have to compromise our positions or ideological beliefs. My ideology is simple: the people are always right. As a leader, if I see that the people are wrong, my duty is to join them and share my advice with them, just as I did with Operation Dudula during the time of Nhlanhla Lux. I totally disagreed with his position and the way he was doing things, including assaulting protesters during the July unrest. However, I gave myself time to engage him, and I can safely say he took my advice, although I never told him to resign from Operation Dudula. As leaders, we cannot blame the youth, nor should we blame them if we fail to address their grievances. If political leaders fail to lead the people, the people will lead themselves, and that does not mean the people are our enemies. While politics comes first for others, for me it is people first. His intentions were good and it was to unite our people yesterday.

@gndzongana @Sentletse That's my point exactly. If the EFF goes one knee begging for votes by aligning itself with illegality and xenophobic tendencies, that's a dangerous trajectory. South Africans aren't stupid, we know we aren't following some cult. Sympathizers with criminals, you're criminal

It seems you're the one suffering from egoistic politics. You expect people to pamper your feelings every time they express a different view. You're stupid if you think that's how you'll grow the EFF, by disowning the very communities that vote for you. You're nobody for me to explain my politics to. Focus on furniture and stop pretending you're a custodian of left radical politics when you're clearly stupid. What exactly am I hiding behind, idiot? Tell me. Unlike you, I don't hide my views just to get cheerleaders to retweet or like them. You are a conman to call me a thug. If you insult me, I'll take you on, bastard, because you're nobody.

I care less about your fragile ego. You’re defending rubbish. There is no excuse for xenophobic and public violence. If that’s the nonsense you support, you stop being a coward and openly come out and declare your support for this criminality. Stop hiding behind nonsensical “unity”. Some of us in the EFF have no business uniting with thugs.

Oh another point that a good friend reminded me of! The Social Research Foundation’s polling is done by Victory Research. Victory Research is run by Gareth Van Onselen (former DA Senior Manager) and Johan van den Berg (current DA Chief Research Officer, the party’s polling boss. Again, why does the News24, Sowetan and the Citizen (media outlets) take this DA-run institute as an authority on polling?
Sinawo Thambo tweet mediaSinawo Thambo tweet media
Sinawo Thambo@Sinawo_Thambo

Meet the Social Research Foundation, which sometimes manifests itself as Common Sense, a platform that claims to conduct Independent News and Analysis. The Social Research Foundation has strong ties to the Democratic Alliance (DA), and has a credibility and track record in polling and research as old as my toddler, 5-years. It provides opinion and polling largely developed by DA social media grifter and former Chief of Staff of Tshwane’s DA Former Mayor Cillier Brink, one Jordan Griffith. The Social Research Foundation’s “research” is focused on discrediting any redress aligned policy, and naturally their polling carries the same biases and attitudes. Their polling importantly has since 2024, projected the DA to perform upwards of 25%, and in certain metros upwards of 30%, and consistently projecting a desire by South Africans for an ANC-DA alliance. The question then becomes how does such a clearly biased backroom research institute that operates from the backroom of a DA “researcher”, dominate the headlines of News24, The Citizen, the Sowetan etc, over an institute like IPSOS which has 50-years of experience in polling? South African media needs to respect itself, and respect us.

ActionSA is faced by multiple scandals all happening at once, and we must not let them forget that, because the skies would have fallen if it was the EFF. If the EFF, like Action SA in East London, was involved in any way, shape or form in a protest that ended in burning cars, properties and violence, the media would not let us forget that. If the EFF, like Action SA in Ekurhuleni, fielded a Mayoral candidate who was tied to the murder of suspects under the guise of a drug bust, yet no drugs are seized or found, the media would not let us forget that. If the EFF leader, like the Action SA leader, had paid a political analyst R12 million to deceive South Africans, and pretend to write an objective autobiography about him, the media would not let us forget that. If the EFF, like the ActionSA in Parliament, had been idiotic enough to support VAT Increases under the foolish idea they could later be reversed because of a recommendation, the media would not let us forget that. If the EFF, like Action SA, had a gambling tycoon like Martin Moshal and mining magnates like the Oppenheimer’s as its funders, while South Africa suffers a crisis of gambling addiction and neglected mining communities, the media would not let us forget that. If the EFF, like Action SA, had an MMC who was DIRECTLY IMPLICATED AND EXPOSED FOR ACTIVELY MANIPULATING TENDERS in Tshwane, the media would not let us forget that. It is about exposing a double standard, regardless of how small the political party is. Action SA is a 1.2% political party, whose brand is ignorance, complicity, criminality and violence. Do not let them forget it.
