A note from Netanyahu's political office, leaked to Israeli media, lists individuals Netanyahu considered key political supporters and funders including Rupert Murdoch among some very recognizable names. Bloomberg reported this week that Murdoch personally called Trump multiple times urging him to strike Iran. Netanyahu himself has said of Murdoch: "He was always a staunch supporter of Israel and viewed it as the foundation stone of the free world in the Middle East. Israel has not had a better friend." The man on Netanyahu's personal list lobbied the US president to go to war. The war is now in its fourth week.

John Bolton, who spent his career trying to bomb Iran, put it plainly: "What he wanted for his advisers in his second term was people who were more amenable just to saying 'yes sir.'" The man who promised to end foreign wars started one because his Cabinet was too afraid to say no, and a media mogul kept calling. Trump's response on Friday: "I have much more power in my second term."
