For real, where does John Williams belong on the list of important Superman creators?

@KosmiKrackles @philhester I don’t agree. The later teaming is not as fine as the 60’s stuff. But JB also didn’t draw the same. Tom was a strong inker but he and JB were friends. In the bottom line is the Sema could’ve inked anything he wanted. And he start and he quit because he made more money drawing.

@philhester Tom's inks are a better match for Neal Adams or Gene Colan. However, when working with John Buscema, Palmer's inks tend to overpower and muddle the elegant and confident lines of the penciller, often detracting from Buscema's style.

Fascinating look at an almost bygone process. John Buscema and Tom Palmer, both masters at the top of their games, but here's a granular view of the places Tom both improves and falls short over John's (loose by today's insane standards) pencils.

@KosmiKrackles @philhester No. But Stan was the glory guy. It makes sense as that was part of his talent. A great salesman. The artists were not the a Guy with an outward hammy salesman pitch. Being the boss he cut the cake in his favor. Nothing to diminish his spotlight

@philhester It’s so ironic that the regular gang of 7-8. Colan Ditko Buscema( s) Kane Kirby and Romita were seen as “ meh” for a long time. Style wise. Art wise. Not cool. Buscema pages were $5. The subby pages cheap. Now- crazytown

@philhester I meant to type Stan stepping on his dick. Stan was a jerk and big John pretty sensitive. His fuck-it phone it in was better than anyone at the time. Yeah I have a bunch of Subby pages. They were dirt cheap
