The Raptors are the 5th best offense and 4th best defense when Scottie Barnes is on the floor, and bottom 8 offense and defense when Scottie is off.
This is the definition of valuable.

Ignoring the player debate going on here; When Scottie Barnes is ON the court, the Raptors offence is the 5th best in the NBA (equivalent to the Lakers). When Scottie Barnes is OFF the court, the Raptors offense is the 26th best in the NBA (equivalent to the Kings). When Scottie Barnes is ON the court, the Raptors defence is the 4th best in the NBA (equivalent to the T-Wolves / Celtics). When Scottie Barnes is OFF the court, the Raptors have the 22nd best defence in the NBA (equivalent to the Grizzlies). I don’t think its that crazy to say that Scottie Barnes may legitimately be the “most valuable player” in the league to his team. Anyways wishing yall have a blessed day ❤️🫡

@Sylitics @DontBOffended1 No he wouldn’t, you surround him with shooters and he becomes even more passive as he’ll want to consistently pass out, you see it all the time, the more scorers around Scottie the more deferring he is, dudes draymond Green but being payed like Giannis

@DontBOffended1 It’s not in him to score 40 that’s not his game, but if the raptors decide to surround him with shooting he could go for 25 consistently. Having a bunch of players on the court that shoot in the 30% range isn’t optimizing his abilities.

The Raptors have done such a bad job building around Scottie. They’ve basically traded 2 top-10 picks for Jakob and Ingram, is already bad enough on its own. But what makes it worse? This year Jak and BI have the worst net rating of any 2-man lineup with Scottie Barnes.

@PensareBBall A bit disingenuous to compare, back when Kidd was in the league the average score was 95-97 and dedicated playmakers who couldn’t score and were a thing, during magic Johnson’s era barely anyone shot threes and he was surrounded by hall of famers so low scoring was a problem

I think people are brain-dead to the points argument.
Magic Johnson had 162 single digit scoring games.
Jason Kidd scored under 10 points 16 times the first time the Nets went to the finals.
Great playmakers don't all have to score like Luka & LeBron.

@CmbAlert Herb jones was the only good defender in the lineup for the pelicans when BI was there and they managed a top 6 defence for three years straight, also a lot of the bench is defensively minded and so is jak (when healthy), carrying a defence shouldn’t stop you trying on offence.

which other two way player in the league is carrying a defense with like 7 negative defenders and 1 positive to a top 8 defense please lmk when you find one👍

@MuseQuickley I truly hate this “he is using all his energy on defense” dialogue. Like there isn’t 2 ways all over the league that can still score the ball at a high rate.
