@Matt_Law_DT Villa can’t have £150k a week subs. So if they don’t improve the XI, they have to leave. And we struggle to improve the XI, because we can’t get players who are better. So it just becomes a doom loop. I’ll never say our recruitment is good. But it does need context.

As for Villa, they haven’t permanently signed a player who’s improved the team since Rogers in January 2024. That’s woefully bad recruitment. Players signed from last January and last summer now out on loan.

8 of today’s starting 11 were starters under Dean Smith. He left 3 and a half years ago. Injuries aside, the fact this is what we have available to us is absolutely mental and it falls down to PSR, SCR and some pretty horrendous recruitment by the club in that time #avfc
