This is a superthread of material related to the project I call an atheology of love, a moral and spiritual philosophy I'm developing around the idea that love can function as a source of subjective meaning and value on premises of atheism, naturalism, and moral error theory.

@IanLecocq @mykael_yuddy I use God as the pronoun for God. I end up typing "God" a lot but I don't feel as ridiculous as referring to God by gendered pronouns looks to me.

@mykael_yuddy He, in this case, is a metaphor or analogy—a convention, not a literal description. Pronouns can signal gender, but they don’t create it and don’t always assign it. When applied to God, it’s simply traditional language, not a claim that God is literally male.

It is isolated actually. You're isolating it from the larger context of her work and art which show her to be a woman who loves, desires, and collaborates with men, making it very clear that the comment was a bit of exasperated sarcasm, which is very common among women who have to deal with baby men like you.

My response to atheists on this question is to ask if they really want to win the argument on this question. Because if they do, they still have the same moral dilemma and if they are just trying to play gotcha, then they've attributed the problem to whatever nonsense they feel is responsible for our existence and suffering.

Babies shouldn't get cancer and Adam shouldn't have rebelled against God. This is why sin is so serious, because of the fallout it causes. Blaming God for your choices and their consequences only makes you look ignorant.
