These types of listings, once sold, also skew the "Last Sold" prices when checking ebay for comps -- which is bad for everyone.

Gotta be careful buying raw these days! Ebay is flooded rn with cards listed in dishonest conditions. At least this seller posted clear pics of this "Lightly Played" card that show the peeling edges and creases 🙄 PSA: Don't buy anything without multiple pics showing condition on front and back. Ideally one full, well-lit pic of front and back each, and close-ups of all 4 corners. You can always message sellers for more pics/better lighting/etc if needed! It is way too easy to hide damage, dents, and creases using poor lighting and sneaky angles. Don't trust words - trust the photos 📸✌️

Just want to spread a little awareness for this bs, TCGPlayer is going through a site-wide buyout right now and I would suggest staying away from it rn if you are buying… Here is just one example (only 13 listings and all of them well over market)

@CharizardEats Card is NM by TCG Player standards 🤷‍♀️ As long as you disclose those 2 little issues in the sales post, I'd throw it up at the low end of NM prices. Take 5% off from there and I bet it would sell fast. This is the perfect type of card I would buy for my binder collection.

Too many people who aren’t actual vendors nor at a card show are too comfortable saying they want to trade at 70-80%. Like bro who do you think you are?

I considered it just so I could hit drops. The intial cost of the bot, proxies, sms numbers, cook groups, and recurring monthly bot fees... Combined with the huge learning curve for setup, and (apparently) needing to physically be at your PC to adjust your bot mid-drop - Made me immediately change my mind 🤣 I ain't got time for all that. Sticking to singles and praying for change lol

I've seen WAY too many heartbreaking videos of kids and young collectors getting fleeced on their sales/trades by scummy vendors at card shows. That kind of dishonest behavior can crush a new collector and push them out of the hobby for good. Yeah, TCG shouldn't be all about money, but it is definitely a good lesson in financial responsibility for the younger generation to be aware of the value of their collection.

I love ripping packs as much as the next collector, but winning an auction at a wildly great price gives me the same type of dopamine boost. No queues, no disappointment from missing drop after drop, and not feeding scalpers. Just a gorgeous card shipped right to my door. I've been in that group for years. Used to be a good bunch of folks, mostly people doing claims sales on singles/slabs, trading posts, and the occasional person scalping. It has been overrun by unashamed scalpers and botters the past year to the point nothing you post will get seen unless you're a frequent flyers or promoted by the admins because you're paying them. Worthless space for average collectors now.

I will call out BS at anytime. With things already selling for absurd prices due to sclapping etc, these guys wanna CHARGE $ to get approved quicker?!

I've been in the singles game for months now. I used to rip entire BB cases chasing master sets, putting my binders together, and trading for the other cards I needed. Buying over MSRP and not even being able to obtain enough product made master setting impossible. I'm not gonna say the joy is dead, but buying singles and slabs will never be as much fun as ripping and pulling your own hits. Is what it is until people stop feeding scalpers 🤷‍♀️

Fatigue is starting to set in for Pokemon as a hobby for me Lines out of control, scalpers fighting and even ruining clothing/merch drops, product being almost impossible to find at MSRP It sucks because this hobby brings so much joy, all ruined by greed and a quick buck 😔

Is any of this worth scalping?

Got lucky and happened to be awake and working a midnight shift when Target did a surprise 3am drop on Saturday. Managed to snag just a couple items I thought were cute, or would put a smile on my face when I'm writing out a shopping list or taking a drink of water. How cooked are we that $3 NOTEBOOKS are being botted and scalped? The trapper keepers are fun, but not something I would buy at nearly $50 or trust to keep any of my valuable cards safe. The only way to fix this insane culture is to ✋️ stop 🚦buying 🚫 from ⛔️ scalpers ✋️ Get what you can at MSRP, and learn to live without the things that you can't. The market will never correct until that happens.

I feel like I need to call my Walmart rep and tell him this guy is incorrect, and to not let him screw the seller. Tip of the day, if you suspect something being fake, post it for confirmation so you don’t look like this dweeb.
