The thing that often breaks my heart about these pick-me, male-centred women who refuse to believe survivors is that many of those abuser-groupies are mothers. Mothers and grandmothers who sit on the internet all day bleating about how great these men accused of abuse are — the Brad Pitts, and the Johnny Depps, and the Justin Baldonis I know women whose mothers refused to believe them when they told them about the abuse or the sexual assault they experienced. It’s been described to me, by some, as being a worse pain than the abuse itself. I know other women who are so afraid their mother won’t believe them, they won’t tell her. It’s so sad.
