The "member schools" (colleges) voted to make the 2023-24 transfer portal window for D1 football December 4, 2023 to January 2, 2024. It seems the schools fought for this window because they could pillage other teams and score more veteran players to fill their rosters before they have to fill them with untested high school athletes. Deion Sanders is following this model precisely. Stack the deck with transfers and fill in fewer gaps with high school recruits. But since the injunction the 23-24 portal has become the Wild West and everybody is transferring. As a result the same schools who made the rules are complaining about the very rules they made. The barn door has been opened and I don't think there is a way to put the horses back.
