♥️ GPT-5.6 is a major step forward for health, both at the frontier and at cost. These models push the frontier of performance per dollar, bringing the best health intelligence to all. The smallest variant, GPT-5.6 Luna, evaluated at the lowest reasoning effort, outperforms GPT-5.5 at the highest reasoning effort–despite costing 25x less. The largest variant, GPT-5.6 Sol, sets a new high bar at cost. Another especially cool result: physicians found fewer flaws in GPT-5.6 responses than physician-written responses. We collected diverse tasks that remain difficult for recent OpenAI models, across patient-facing and clinician-facing use cases. We asked speciality-matched physicians to write responses to these tasks with unlimited time and web access. We then asked other physicians to compare responses side-by-side, blinded to their source. Physicians were asked to comment on areas of improvement across five axes: accuracy, communication, completeness, instruction following, and health decision helpfulness. We then reported the fraction of responses across sources rated perfectly across all axes, across 20,000 total axis ratings. GPT-5.6 Sol appeared strongest, although all GPT-5.6 models performed significantly better than physicians.

GPT-5.6 is a major step forward for health intelligence. Across the lineup, we’re delivering stronger performance at lower cost: GPT-5.6 Luna outperforms GPT-5.5 at its highest reasoning setting while costing 25x less. Together, these advances raise quality while making advanced models accessible to more people globally.

there are a lot of benchmarks that suggest 5.6 sol is the best model in the world right now, but the most reliable way to tell is that elon is obsessed with me again

Emma Dahl wanted a wedding dress that was historically-inspired, deeply personal, and unlike anything she could buy—including incorporating pearls from her grandmother’s necklace. So she turned to ChatGPT to help. “Because I was using some pretty niche historical sewing techniques with very little information online, I spent months going back and forth with ChatGPT asking super specific questions, troubleshooting construction details, and slowly turning my idea into a real dress. It covered everything from helping me upgrade my sewing machine, to historical corset construction. It even helped me figure out what shape to cut my veil and figure out how pack up all the orchids I'd been growing and travel with them to use in my bouquet.”

GPT-5.6 sol beats Fable 5 on most published benchmarks at less than half the cost openai played this perfectly anthropic either sticks to its plan of making fable api-only on the 12th or pivots again and looks foolish, possibly keeping it on the subscription at full usage instead of 50%

Just noticed I've been been working in ChatGPT Work all day without realizing it. I toggled over absentmindedly during a meeting and then afterward just started drafting, file-searching, Slack-pulling - everything I'm used to doing in Codex. We're gonna be okay, fam.

GPT-5.6 Sol is mesmerizing and by far the best model I've ever used Multiple problems I was working on with GPT-5.5 that I had spent a few hours on and 5.6 was able to resolve/fix them in 2/3 messages each Another confirmation that LLM progress is not a logarithmic curve

You really have to give OpenAI credit: its work has become excellent, and so has its community management. Features are being brought back, rate limits are being reset, and the path forward is being communicated transparently. I use both Codex and Claude Code every day, but OpenAI has found a far better way to work with the community. Anthropic could learn from that.
Tibo@thsottiaux

Hello beautiful people! We have reset usage limits across Codex and ChatGPT Work. And another one will come later in the day. Rejoice. Now that I have your attention, a quick update on ChatGPT Work, Codex and all the updates we shared yesterday. We’ve spent the last 24 hours reading feedback, looking at usage patterns, and talking with many of you. The short version is that there is a *lot* of excitement for GPT 5.6 Sol, ChatGPT Work on mobile & web, but also that we didn't get everything quite right. - We made it too easy to use the highest-compute settings without making the impact on usage limits sufficiently clear. - We reorganized the desktop app in one bold move, making familiar things like chats and projects harder to find. - Our launch framing was focused on ChatGPT Work and to some of our Codex fans it made it feel like Codex was going away over time. Absolutely not our intention, we love Codex and it is here to stay. - And we introduced regressions for some existing multi-agent workflows, alongside a collection of rough edges in plugins and other parts of the experience. We’re landing a first set of improvements today. We’re resetting usage twice so people can keep experimenting, changing defaults and the model picker so they don’t push people toward unnecessarily expensive settings, fixing several plugin submission issues, improving how we represent Codex in the product, and cleaning up some of the most immediate desktop problems. A larger set of improvements will land next week. We’re bringing chats and projects back into the sidebar in a more familiar and customizable way, making usage and reset timing much more visible, clarifying when to use ChatGPT Work and when to use Codex, and addressing the many other smaller pieces of great feedback we've had. The ambition behind this launch hasn’t changed. We think bringing ChatGPT and Codex together into a workspace where people and agents can collaborate is a very important step forward. But an ambitious direction doesn’t excuse avoidable confusion or regressions in the first version. Please keep the feedback coming. We’re moving quickly, and you should see the experience already get better with a few updates today; and substantially better again next week.

New ChatGPT voice mode is incredibly impressive. I continue to believe that natural voice interface is underweighted in LLM assessments. For a decent chunk of people, it’s just how they interact with AI.

The picture-in-picture (PiP) capabilities of ChatGPT Work with 5.6 is one of those small things that’s actually a really big thing. When GPT-5.6 is controlling your computer, you can “pop out” the live computer session into a floating window that stays above your other applications. Instead of dedicating the full ChatGPT/Codex window to supervising the agent, you can: -Continue working, coding, etc. as is -Watch the agent navigate your desktop in a small always-on-top window. -Intervene at any point if it reaches an approval checkpoint. -Pause or resume execution without switching back to the main app. The experience is much closer to supervising a human assistant sitting at your computer than watching a browser automation tool.

The new ChatGPT Work comes with a new Computer Use experience. It's faster and introduces picture-in-picture, so you can keep an eye on Computer Use while it works!

So, ChatGPT Work doesn't just build inline interactive explainers. You can build full inline applications. For example, I built an inline Spanish tense training app. This is great. Lots of ideas for things I can build inline.

In 2021, Patrick Cheng acquired a struggling restaurant and began using ChatGPT to redesign menus, optimize pricing, and improve marketing and customer communications. The result? More than 200% growth in sales and a tripling of the restaurants catering business. Now he’s turning that playbook outward with NextGen, a nonprofit dedicated to helping family-owned businesses modernize through AI adoption, technology education, and micro-grants.

As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our safeguards for advanced AI capabilities in biology, we’re evolving our Bio Bug Bounty into an ongoing private program, known as the OpenAI Bio Bug Bounty program and doubling rewards to $50K.
