Very apparent that many don’t know how to factor the relative age/physicality effect into their analysis of young players on this platform. Seen some scathing reviews of JJ Gabriel’s performance yesterday (thought he had a solid performance overall), making assertions about his future after watching just one game of his against the best, most physical under-18 side in the country. Some players don’t make an under-18 debut until they’re 16 and still go on to have good careers. JJ started the season at 14 and dominated from start to finish. He’s got so much growing to do both physically and on the pitch before it becomes appropriate to make reaching statements about his long-term future.
