Sounds like a lot of damage control to me. McVay looked pissed in the press conference, and you don't draft a QB of the future without the HC meeting with him and being on board.
It makes me wonder if McVay is planning to retire when Stafford does, so he wasn't consulted and is now upset that the Rams didn't make a win-now move.

How can you tell a player "Don't go out and do XYZ because it hurts the team, hold yourself to a higher standard" when he broke a presumably holy vow, and betrayed his family to bang a reporter? I don't know if it's a firable offense, but he's def undermined his own authority

@DiBonaNFL @MoneyMaal1 It's def a scumbag move, and a terrible look...but I just don't see nfl owners wanting to set the precedent that they are going to bring the hammer down on team personnel for conduct that doesn't impact football or break any laws.
