@HarryCrew9 Indeed. But imagine standing before such a construct in medieval dome. It must have been mind blowing. You could see it for miles before arriving!

@TheRealPeterWa1 I suspect the lowly uneducated was busy earning a crust and perhaps raised two fingers to the opulence of the castle and the church when he gave it thought. He was of course conditioned to his place in life….but it was a grim existence by our standards.

Definition of imposing at Lincoln Cathedral. What a great city it must have been in the 13th and 14th centuries! Andimagine what the average uneducated populace must have thought when they looked up at it.

Countries that invest in #rehabilitation have fewer #crime victims, pay lower taxes and improve their societies. #prison doesn't work.

One of my favourite boyhood TV progs. Used to love it when the rest of the family cleared off so I could be one of Robin's merry men without the C20th!

Now look what they're doing in Norway. What a fantastic creation - a roof without the normality of a house below it.

@TalkingPicsTV Absolutely. Will do. You could perhaps give me a five or ten minute slot to critique the previous week's showings or to preview the week to come. Just an idea. I have a strong blacklist ofpublished work in The Times, TheSpectator, Prospect, TLS, New Statesman et al.

The Te Deum window at Holy Trinity, Coventry. It was designed by Hugh Easton to replace Victorian glass destroyed by bombing in the war, and dedicated in 1955. Please note that in addition to the #augustangels in the glass, the bonus angels in the roof! #StainedGlassSunday
