@InsideTimeUK Prison education and vocational training is pointless because employers won't hire people with criminal records no matter what their qualifications or experience.

@LifeOutside2017 Well the trials done so far have resulted in a lot of innocent people harassed and even locked up. For someone on life licence, you'll be locked up first. You and I know UK justice means innocent people are locked up all the time. Plus they're doing away with jury trials.

@MemesKind Good point I didn't think of that, There's good and bad points to the technology, Everyone will have to see how things pan out but I am of the opinion that if someone has nothing to hide then there's no problem with it being rolled out nationwide, Which it no doubt will be

It's pretty clear that these new facial recognition systems will be a way for police to harass #prison leavers and anyone with a criminal record. We'll never be allowed to move on from our past offences. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@LifeOutside2017 Or if an AI mistakenly matches you to crime committed by someone else you will be immediately recalled to prison. False positives are a huge problem with this technology. You'll argue your innocence from a prison cell as they'll believe the AI not you.

@MemesKind I look at it from a different perspective I'm on Life Licence having been released nearly 9 years I already have Licence restrictions, So for me personally with a conviction for Murder it's actually a good thing as it will help me prove where I was if a false allegation is made

There are so many people who speak about #prison despite never being locked into a cell. Even prison staff have no idea what it feels like to hear that cell door lock every night. If you want to know what prison life is like, speak to someone just released today.

@Prison_Screw MoJ management get paid the same whether the prison numbers or re-offending rates go up or down or if inspection reports are good or bad. There is zero incentive for the system to improve and zero ramifications if the system gets worse.

@Prison_Screw The IMB is a complete joke. They give the impression of inspecting prisons and helping prisoners but they do nothing of the kind. The organisation should be disbanded and replaced with a proper independent body who have real power to sack incompetent governors.

The independence of monitoring boards is crucial to their job of overseeing prisons. Minister Timpson has lost his way here and the resignation of most of the HMP Downview panel is an indication of this mistake. insidetime.org/newsround/imb-…

@Reform_Rebuild And no one will lose their job or even be reprimanded no matter how damning an inspection report is. The whole inspection process is a joke.

HMP Feltham latest | The ingress of illicit drugs had become a serious problem with the positive mandatory test rate among the highest in category C prisons. The use of PAVA incapacitant spray was also high, reflecting a failure to de-escalate incidents.

@Prison_Screw It seems as if the whole point is to burn the prison service to the ground so they have no choice but to privatise it. They'll hand over the budget to big US prison firms and remove human rights and just warehouse people in lawless gulags.

Prison officers are leaving the job in droves, non uk nationals working as officers will no longer earn enough to remain within visa regulations. It’s a sh1tfest initiated by #FailingGrayling (remember him) continued by every dim justice secretary since. express.co.uk/news/politics/…

@LockedUpLiving You're missing the point. All organisations preach helping prison leavers but in reality they just stand next to the tiny fraction who are the lottery winners of post prison employment and then claim they helped and that anyone can do it. They lie like this to get funding.

@LockedUpLiving 4/ hope merchants with zero follow through to see how the vast majority of prison leavers feel lied to and cheated by a promises made by resettlement teams, lies from vocational training staff and from 'hope merchants'. This exacerbates trust issues. Massive scam.

@LockedUpLiving 3/ one example. There is an industry of LE people exploiting the system for pay by presenting their 'small time crimes' as an example of prison LE when in reality most prisoners have complex issues and offences that permanently bar them from life chances. CJ orgs employ these
