@AzzyDesignWorks @reprinted3D I’ve heard good things about the course from @cad_class to get up to speed then branch to more exotic stuff later. I know they give away the pdf of their book so it may be worth looking into.

Personally, Im done with Autodesk and their SaaS games, but I have a buddy who is struggling to learn the basics a month into a $$$ Fusion 360 subscription. Any good and current walkthroughs? I tried a few once, and even a year out they can be wrong, with how often the updates happen.

@AmazonHelp I just need to know if this package is going to show up tonight, I have to get some sleep before work in the morning and waiting for electronics to be delivered this late and in the dark isn’t my idea of safe or fun.

@3DBearnicorn But that’s also why I do static most of the time. Since messing with animations again I’ve limited myself quite a bit just to make render times bearable.

@3DBearnicorn Oh yeah scene optimization is key, especially with older/lower end hardware but sometimes I just have to make a bunch of transparent light emitting objects because they look so cool 😂

I really wonder how much faster I could render these scenes with a newer GPU, I mean it’s not terrible but ~30 seconds a frame adds up fast.

@3DBearnicorn I need to heist my buddies pc for a little to run some tests just to see average render times on the same scenes. I can imagine their 4070ti is gonna shred through what I mess around with.

@TheSamSkwanch Ooooooh, yes. RTX is where it’s at. Get you some CUDAs and your render times will automatically cut in half.

@3DBearnicorn Yeah right now I’m leaning towards my lack of RT hardware biting me. I think if I decide to stick with this I’ll invest in some newer hardware to ease this part of the process.

@TheSamSkwanch Same… there’s a lot you can do to optimize a scene. It really depends on your software of choice and the type hardware you use but I’m not literate enough in that world

@3DBearnicorn Most of the time I just do single frame static renders for fun, but lately I’ve been trying to mess around with animation. If I could get to sub 15 seconds I would be in heaven.

@TheSamSkwanch I have a coworker whose goal is regularly less than 15 seconds, sometimes as low as 4.

It’s a sad day, I hardly use PLA anymore so I finally had to pull the plug on my @PrintedSolid #JessiePLA subscription, I’ve been in since day one and love their filament but I’m just going to buy what I need when/if I need it.

The best time to realize you haven’t saved in a few hours is when the program crashes and you reopen a vastly different point in time. I guess it’s time to quit for the night. 😂

Thinking I need to chill my brain out so what better than pausing my learning of blender to go back into solidworks and design something practical I need for shop lighting
