@hirahira22222 A pig was a pig or very similar word all the way back to Old English. But English nobility were, for a long time, as French as they were English, and they knew it as "pork" in their culinary traditions. When English has a different word for a cooked meat, it's a French loanword.

I know the point of these videos is some kind of fetish but what is the fetish exactly? Is it the messiness? Is it ruining one of these grills? What actually gets people off

@SynthPotato I don't think much has changed here. The only difference is high framerate movies and TV which to anyone my age makes the lighting look cheap, turning well-lit dramas into garish scenes out of an 80s daytime soap opera.

Seriously though why does this happen? Did something in screens change or did we just get too used to 60FPS+ that 30fps looks so laggy now?

question for gen x-ers: did everyone realize at the time that grunge was not really a musical genre...pearl jams is basically classic rock, nirvana was punk, alice in chains was metal, soudgarden was drugs...what was going on there...

@Phantom_TheGame The imperial system was created for different people - people who often had to divide things into half, quarters, thirds, fifths, for commercial purposes (£1 = 240p, exquisitely divisible). So it did serve a purpose in its original context. It's just clunky today though.

The imperial system is horrible. People can use it with little trouble if they were taught it from the beginning, but that does not mean it's a good or intuitive system. But yeah, F is completely logical for the weather and I haven't seen strong arguments against it rather than "but i know Celsius and it is easy for me to use Celsius".

Hot take (pun not intended) I am European, never used Fahrenheit, but Fahrenheit makes more sense than Celsius for outside temperatures.
