@MushtaqBilalPhD Great thread. Super similar to my content editing process! One thing I can’t do is print and make notes, for two reasons: 1. I don’t currently have a printer 2. My handwriting looks like a 2 year old baby

@mrjuanresendez @tubawidow Agree. In the district I taught in it was a complete popularity contest, determined then by administration with no accountability that was then sent to higher state levels. I know because I was nominated by my peers numerous times, but admin shut it down.

@tubawidow I hear you. There are a lot of discrepancies across areas. I will say that I do think you and I winning that award is meaningful, but it’s the cognitive content of that meaning that I am trying to get at. Does it mean what most people think it means or should mean?

Sincere question… Do Teacher of the Year programs do more harm than good because they celebrate/perpetuate toxic hero teacher myths and inflame competition between educators?

@teacherquit @theDRAMAgoat1 Mine asked me to lie on a huge state grant report about use of funds-while on stage seconds before presenting the illegally funded program to 100s of potential parents. I didn't. Was blacklisted. Then awarded prestigious fellowship for the program I built legally.

Let's play a game and tell about the worst admin you have ever had. The story with the most likes has/had the worst admin. I'll start, my admin got mad at me and told me she can put whatever she wants about me in her report.

@AEF_Program Q1: I never thought I was a STEM person....I put it off until my last sebester of college. I was even told I wasn't. Then I took geology and the world made sense. I felt like I was capable of doing science when I saw the meaning and relevance in daily life

@heymrsbond I had throat infections constantly. Just try projecting your voice for 6.5 hours straight while always being on the lookout for kids smoking/fighting/bullying/and keeping them all engaged and entertained. And out sassing them.

Student ideas at work! This is what pre packaged "expert" created and locally removed content lacks-the ability to adapt to student needs or use ideas to guide learning-as scientists do. I love seeing teachers comfortable with uncertainty! Give a follow

Classroom investigations mostly demonstrate things we want children to “know," In the #InvestigationsProject, we purposefully engage students with uncertainty about evidence and uncertainty about what claim they can make from their investigation.
