Question for my bug folk, totally showing off how ignorant and inexperienced I am: What do you wear when you’re out in the field? Are you covered from neck to wrist and toe? Do you wear bug spray to keep flies/ticks off of you? I’ve only ever taken pics NOT at my house *once*.

Very very common and not particularly pretty, but I like their delicate fine-mesh webs. Cyrtophora sp. in my garden, Raigad District, Konkan Coast. #SpiderTwitter #EverySpiderMatters

@curiocritters @spreadtheloveRN @JosephTLapp @neville_park I agree! Golden Guide to Spiders is small and inexpensive, but it is so amazing and full of great info and fantastic pictures. It's appropriate for kids or adults, for newbies or experts. I still use mine as a quick reference, and I've been studying spiders for 22 years!

Just hanging out with the Phidippus clarus who lives on my pergola. Love this little lady(?). She was a biggie, about 6mm. 2-3 of them live - or at least hang out - on there. These critters are so charismatic and lively, moving about, jumping on the camera or even me.

This has to be the Frank Sinatra of the jumping spider world (Evarcha falcata)! You can sense the tiny size as it's clasped around a piece of last years grass! Photographed today (25/3/19) @ Skipwith Common. Handheld stacked image of 30 shots in natural light hence the eyes!

When I was little I wanted to be a flight attendant so I could travel the world by plane. Later I wanted to be a professional musician in a symphony orchestra. Currently working toward becoming a professor of spider behaviour!
