@drawandstrike Rounds' current challenger doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell because he's from West River. The best candidates to primary a senator are running for governor this year.

Well it's a numbers game. Trump looks at all the primary challengers to the GOP UniParty incumbent - who's often got a very powerful machine behind him, deep pockets donors, really dug in there like Alabama tick... ...and then when Trump examines the primary challengers, he looks at the ones that are MAGA, how strong their campaign machine is, how much money they've raised, how state-wide their campaign is... and he makes a calculated decision. His endorsement is not the 'Golden Ticket' some people think it is. Some people think if Trump endorses you as a challenger, you're gonna win no matter what, no matter how weak your campaign machine is. As much as he would LIKE to, Trump can't pick a MAGA challenger over every GOP UniParty incumbent. No matter how much people would really like him to do that. That he endorsed Rounds tells me that when Trump took a look at the primary challengers, he didn't see anybody who he thought could - even with his endorsement and the boost it would give - overcome all of the incumbents advantages. This the exact same reason he endorsed Lady Lindsey in South Carolina. Like it or not, Graham is dug in there like an Alabama tick. It's gonna take somebody with very popular name recognition, a very powerful statewide organization, and a lot of money to even have a shot at rooting Graham out of that seat, even WITH Trump's endorsement going to the challenger. And remember, while Graham pisses us all off with his NeoCon war drum-banging shenanigans, he IS a very dependent pro-Trump vote on MAGA agenda items. If Trump endorsed a challenger and made Graham turn on him, and then Graham successfully holds that challenger off and keeps the seat, what happens then? Very like a pro-Trump vote just became an anti-Trump voter. This endorsement stuff isn't as easy as some people try to make it sound - "Just find out who the best MAGA challenger is, endorse them, hand them the Golden Ticket, they win, easy peasy lemon squeezy!" It's not that simple. He's picking his shots at which GOP UniParty incumbents are MOST VULNERABLE to being rooted out and unseated. He took a look at Rounds and he didn't see much vulnerability there. He didn't see anybody with a powerful enough state-wide organization behind them that he thought had a legtimate shot at taking Rounds down. It is what it is. As it stands, he's gotten 4 seats formerly held in the Senate by GOP UniParty vacated and he has his MAGA people on the ballots in November: 1. Paxton [Cornyn] 2. Letlow [Cassidy] 3. Barr [McConnell hand-picked CAMERON for this KY seat] 4. Whatley [Tillis] He may get a 5th before this plays out. Just not with Rounds.

President Trump has endorsed Rounds as I come to find out.

On Thursday last week the Senate was mad at Trump and they left town instead of voting for his priorities. The next day Cornyn said he would pull a Truman vs Dewey victory over Paxton despite Trump's endorsement. They left town in order to let Cornyn do his thing. He lost. It wasn't even close. We still have the wildcards in the Senate who are out this cycle. But maybe. Just maybe. Their colleagues will tell them to sit down and shut their mouths. Fwiw. Rounds is up next week in SD. The same state as Thune.

@MysteryGrove Kansas is weird because the urban areas almost exactly balance out the rural areas so any third party can swing it

Honestly... sports would be way more interesting to me if teams were made up of the people they represent. Rather than a roster of the highest bid talent from the same pool as everyone else
C.Jay Engel 🌲@contramordor

@Jason A nation is not a sports team. A nation is an extended family. To think of a nation as a sports team is to declare war on its culture, heritage, and inheritance.

@MericaCulture Sadly, I fear you're absolutely right. We decided it prudent to move the idea to the Missouri River, and are trying to privately fund the operation. What do you think?

The sad reality is that building something so unabashedly American in 2026 is near impossible. The commies who run Minnesota and Wisconsin would inevitably insist on including Sacagawea and we'd get never ending protests by Indians over "stolen land".

I think we need to build this. I designed this below image, representing Lewis and Clark on the Mississippi in the style of Argonath. At $1 Billion or more, I think it can be done.

@SaveSunshineOrg @plainstriumph @LeadingReport Florida shouldn't dictate how much sun the rest of the country gets. In Eastern SD, permanent DST would mean sunrise at 9 AM in December. This might work for areas on the eastern edges of timezones, but it's a non-starter for me honestly

Sunshine Protection Project
Sunshine Protection Project@SaveSunshineOrg·
Countries that tried and abanonded this: 1) UK 1968-1971: the sun rises an hour later than in the USA. Scotland winter sunrise was 9:45AM during the experiment. Not a close comparison. 2) Russia 2011-2014: an even more dramatic difference; sunrise is two hours later. Moscow winter sunrise was 10AM during the experiment. 3) Brazil and China: never tried Permanent Daylight Savings Time. For context: Under a year-round Daylight Saving Time policy in the USA, the population-weighted average sunrise time would be 8:22AM on the shortest day of the year.

We have data to show that a baby’s epigenetic profile is extremely fragile and altered by all sorts of strange variables, even the stress level of its father. We now even have evidence that eggs live in “communities” inside ovaries and the ones with better/more robust communities are healthier. What influence would living frozen and alone for 30 years have on your genetic psyche?
Lancesico 🇱🇨@Bornakang

The world's oldest baby was born from an embryo frozen in 1994. Thaddeus Daniel Pierce is over 30 years old despite being born on July 26, 2025

@MarinasHammer So this makes it sound like this camp is in the middle of nowhere next to some small cowboy town, when in reality it's 4-5 miles from the largest city in the state and 4-5 miles north of the state line (so almost in CO)

Big Data plans to airdrop 5,600 men in a Mountain West gulag “worker man camp” bigger than nearly every town in the state of Wyoming. I’m sure these “men” will all be English speaking heritage Americans and the women and children of the area will be totally safe.
Cowboy State Daily@daily_cowboy

The proposed 5,600-worker man camp south of Cheyenne would be larger than 84 Wyoming towns. Notices were mailed to more than 200 landowners describing it as “secured, temporary workforce housing campus” supporting "large-scale infrastructure projects.” cowboystatedaily.com/2026/05/10/5-6…

I don’t want my streets to be “vibrant” and I don’t want my local “food scene” to be “authentic”. I want my city to be quiet and clean and orderly. I want to go to the diner and get American food. I want my waitress to speak English. The rest of the world sucks.

@mattforney The wealth doesn't get invested in the small towns across the state; leaving much of the non-tourist areas & non-Cheyenne areas a shit hole. Imagine Western New York, but on a windy plateau and heroin over meth as the drug of choice.
