The new M5 Pro/Max MacBooks have 3 Thunderbolt 5 ports, enabling you to create RDMA clusters with up to 4 MacBooks. The latency with RDMA over Thunderbolt is single digit microseconds, fast enough for tensor parallelism with close to linear scaling.
Alex Cheema tweet media
Guybrush Threepwood@twistedmatrices

PSA: If you have multiple macbooks that support RDMA, you can cluster them using @exolabs and run 30B+ models at 70 tok/s over thunderbolt5. tensor parallelism on consumer hardware is a solved problem. you are renting GPUs that are worse than the laptop on your couch. 2X M4 Max(64GB each) running mlx-community/Qwen3-30B-A3B-4bit @ 70 TPS

Three Charged with Conspiring to Unlawfully Divert Cutting Edge U.S. Artificial Intelligence Technology to China “The indictment unsealed today details alleged efforts to evade U.S. export laws through false documents, staged dummy servers to mislead inspectors, and convoluted transshipment schemes, in order to obfuscate the true destination of restricted AI technology—China,” said John A. Eisenberg, Assistant Attorney General for National Security. “These chips are the product of American ingenuity, and NSD will continue to enforce our export-control laws to protect that advantage.” 🔗: justice.gov/opa/pr/three-c…

Every week I booked a lunch to eat with someone near the end of their first year at the company. Long enough to know what was working and what wasn't, recent enough to know what the company they came from did well and didn't. It was always interesting to find out the frustrations the people doing the actual work had with rules put in place by mid level management that the C level rarely became aware of.

@parkeragee @Cloudflare Still talk to ~20% of people we hire before we extend them an offer. And a big part of my job is flying around and meeting as many of them as I can. Companies are just collections of people.

I've never taken you as someone who runs from hard challenges. Who better to improve their IT stack. Imagine it.....takeover of all the placements at their resorts is probably worth $200M+/yr, really just a marketing expense to buy placement in front of every tech companies C level that skis.

@eastdakota Funny, Vails corps market cap would tuck in nicely to Cloudflare. Most of your customers also ski all of Vails resorts. Not as disconnected as you think. Also Cloudflare could plaster it's brand on every gondola and ski pole at every Vail resorts instantly.

Hundreds of legal AI companies. Billions in funding. The tools I needed at Kirkland & Ellis and Gunderson Dettmer still don't exist. So we built them. November 2022. GPT-3.5 drafted a ToS that was 90% right. I knew the industry was about to change. So I left. Two years later, every attorney I talked to said the same thing: "The AI tools? They're just there to make clients happy. No one actually uses them." Tech people don't know what attorneys do. Attorneys don't know how to build AI. We do both. Mage Legal.

Literally building an OS for my hedge fund (events, CRM, accounting, etc), while building two other apps for other business I'm invested in. It's wild. Exited Adtech too, this seems like a gold rush for easily the next 5 years. Game changing for smart people with ideas that just want to test ideas before hiring whole teams to build something.

$24k/month in labor costs. Gone. Replaced by an AI agent we built in a week Finds UGC creators, negotiates rates, handles outreach. Runs while you sleep. Showed our little demo to a brand owner I consult for today. She said “that’s not possible yet.” I was screen-sharing the rough version we made while she said that. Can’t wait to let it run next week for her… I’ve seen this before. I was 15 making Adsense money while everyone told me the internet was a fad. That internet marketing was a scam. That turned into $30M for me 20 years later. I’m 37 now. Same feeling in my chest. There’s a flood of money pouring through AI right now. Most people are standing ankle-deep in it asking if it’s real. Put a bucket out or don’t. But don’t say you didnt have the opportunity.

Moltworker is a middleware Worker and adapted scripts that allows running Moltbot (formerly Clawdbot) on Cloudflare's Sandbox SDK and our Developer Platform APIs. So you can self-host an AI personal assistant — without any new hardware. cfl.re/4k6NUmp

This is the real retirement plan for those that don't insider trade like Pelosi. Allocate a bunch of US taxpayer money to non-profits that while you have influence and soon as you're no longer elected you just rake in "consulting" and other income for being connected. Also pays for all their five star hotel travel and private jets they got use to as high ranking politicians.

🧵THE UNIPARTY UNMASKED – They Believe They Are “Democracy” The seven NGOs in the chart below, in my view, represent the Uniparty. Each of these organizations receives substantial financial support from USAID or the Department of State. Around 2019, the phrase “democracy in danger” began to dominate public discourse, amplified by the media. This was odd—after all, the U.S. is a democracy (or more precisely, a constitutional republic). But as I traced the influence of these NGOs, a pattern emerged: they are controlled by establishment politicians, they play a major role in shaping political narratives worldwide, and their core mission is always framed as “protecting democracy.” Originally, these NGOs were created to support U.S. democratic efforts abroad—many of them emerging during the Cold War to combat the spread of communism. But with the fall of the Soviet Union, their original purpose faded. Instead of dissolving, they redefined their mission. Now, they have positioned themselves as the guardians of democracy itself. This shift explains why Trump’s re-election was framed as a "threat to democracy." To these NGOs, “democracy” means themselves. Their survival depends on maintaining that role, and any challenge to their authority is perceived as a direct attack on democracy itself.

@elonmusk I think cheaper plans with unlimited data but much slower speeds would be a hit. Like 1/mbps or 5 or 10. Lots of people just needing emails or on hi one calls over wifi remotely not to necessarily watch Netflix.
