1908: something explodes over Siberia with the force of hundreds of Hiroshimas. 80 million trees flattened. Scientists arrive 19 years later and find no crater and no fragments. The Tunguska event is still an open case. #tunguska #history

You don't believe in 9,999 of the gods humanity has worshiped throughout history, making you an atheist toward all of them. Atheists just reject the 10,000th one too

OTD 1863: ten days after Gettysburg, Manhattan burns. Congress let rich men pay $300 to skip the draft. Mobs burned a Black orphanage. Lincoln pulled troops from the battlefield to fight civilians. The largest civil uprising in American history. #history #onthisday #onthisday

For centuries, outsiders have tried to reach North Sentinel Island, met with the same answer: 'No.' From shipwrecked sailors to modern YouTubers, the Sentinelese have consistently resisted contact, some places should remain untouched. #NorthSentinel #CulturalPreservation

North Sentinel Island: a place where the modern world stops. Unlike most encounters, the Sentinelese people remain untouched, defending their home. Not every door is meant to be opened. #UncontactedTribes #Anthropology

@TheSkepticWiz this is not how Christianity became popular.

Just a reminder of how Christianity became so popular today. During the reign of Charlemagne women were impaled on sharpened poles put in the vagina. Slowly over days the pole would travel the length of the body through the organs causing tremendous pain, simply because a woman was found collecting herbs in the forest. She was labeled a witch. Their screams could be heard for days as an example to those who would not accept the foreign faith. Christianity became so popular because of sheer terror of what would happen if it wasn't accepted. And people think the Nazis were horrible. This is still happening today in the form of collective social pressure. Say your a pagan and your immediately labeled dangerous, evil, and a threat to the world.

@atrupar Yeah buddy, see about that — if you’re dead, you don’t get to tell anyone what to do anymore. Funny how that works.

In my retirement, I have faced a lot of health issues, scares, and problems. During this I have spent a ton of my time watching court cases. Having said that, it is super clear to me that there is more than enough evidence for a court case against Tyler Robinson.

One island has told the entire modern world no for thousands of years. Shipwrecks, missionaries, helicopters. Every attempt at contact refused. North Sentinel Island might be the most successful border in human history. . #NorthSentinelIsland #History

North Sentinel Island is home to one of Earth's most isolated peoples. This isn't just a story of a forbidden island, but one of contact, empire, disease, and survival against the odds. #History #Culture #Survival
