Football is caught between two imperatives — to want the referee’s decision to play its part, and to want absolute consistency. These are not compatible.
It explains the differing refereeing of two 'identical' incidents that Michael Carrick called 'crazy' and led Manchester United and its 'furious' officials to say it will be making an official complaint.
But this litigating, this demand for perfection, only fuels the cycle.

@PoojaMedia Just breathe in and out then say to yourself " I am a fool"
English

@WelBeast Not you quoting a United legend when it suits you. Funny.
English

Patrice Evra says Arsenal might need to stop playing “pretty football” if they want to beat Pep Guardiola’s team.
“I don’t care if they don’t play attractive football, waste time, or bend the rules they need to win the Premier League at any cost.
Mikel Arteta is not here to please anyone; he’s here to win. If that means relying on set pieces or putting the club’s style aside for big trophies, so be it.”
If you want entertainment, buy a ticket and go to a concert.
English

@TurkTalksFC If you get time to watch the game, you may delete this. The score line is deceiving those who didn't watch the game.
English

@Mike87_United Are you sure everything is fine wherever you are?
English

The “red flags” are because some of us have an attention span that lasts longer than 5 minutes and we’ve seen it all before when everyone tried to tell us Ole was a better manager than Jose Mourinho because of a good 2 months worth of counter attacks.
Ade@debornair99
people who had to wait a year for B2B wins are now seeing red flags in winning 5 in 6 games.
English

@debornair99 Fake fans feeding off Man United's struggles. It was a good thing for them to see the team losing while they moan daily. Moaning is now part of their DNA such that I wont be surprised if we win 5-0 they would still something bad.
English

@Cantonadevils It must be hard to be you and probably many other people like you. Whether the team wins or not, you find something to criticize.
English

Manchester United game Yesterday against Everton was awful and ugly but the team were able to grind out a win and take the 3points and that’s very important in securing champions league football.
Tactically, teams are figuring how to set up against us.
They lets us have the ball and possession and set up in low block, thereby not allowing for a counter attacking football and these will keep happening with subsequent teams we will play.
Michael Carrick needs to do better.

English

@UtdFaithfuls Yet people put the blame on United for the boring game.
English

@henrywinter Very clear that was West Ham's game plan yesterday. It disturbed the game flow and people want to blame Man United and were saying they played boring football. The whole team was concentrating on protecting the goalie while the opposition was forcing corners.
English

Grappling at corners was rife during the early stages of the 2018 World Cup, including during England’s games with Tunisia and Colombia. Fifa acted, instructing refs and VAR to crack down on the holding and pulling. It helped for a while. Wrestling in the Premier League, and attempts to crowd out the keeper, risk becoming an epidemic, and inevitably increased with more focus on set-piece goals. It's spoiling the spectacle for many. Officials need to get a grip of the grapplers. If that means more penalties awarded or free-kicks for baulking the keeper ... so be it. The issue will be consistency of application.
English

@MikeKeegan_DM Everton just forgot that it's football not rugby. People are saying Man United played badly yes but did you see what Everton ere doing? Haram football
English

@WelBeast Nightmares? Sorry to hear that but you deserve it. You talk as if you are the one playing the football. This is just the beginning of many nightmares.
English

@SirLeoBDasilva Oh well. I have a book for you read. It's called "How to be humble even when your team is playing a bottom side in the PL". By the way, welcome to the PL
English

Wolves are a team that's completely lost hope. There's nothing they can do to stay in this league. Genuinely one of the worst sides I've seen in the Premier League.
My advice to anyone thinking of hate-watching Arsenal: don't waste your time. Get some sleep. Rest up for the frustration that's coming later. Trust me. Nights.
English

@Mike87_United But let's be honest, how bad was Ole ball and how bad is Carrick in his five games? I may not get an answer, unfortunately.
English

@UTDKara That's why we don't have to pay any attention to these predictions. Just look at Sunderland and Liverpool positions. Nonsense.
English

What happened to that table where Opta predicted Manchester United would finish 12th? 😂

Sky Sports Premier League@SkySportsPL
Premier League leaders Arsenal are certain to finish in the provisional Champions League places according to Opta, with Manchester City and Aston Villa just behind 📊👀
