I was a kid in the 90s, and by the time I was 12 I had stayed at my friends houses hundreds of nights for sleepovers. My friends stayed with me hundreds of nights for sleepovers. Video games. Making home movies. Snacks. Bewshittin'. My sons are 8 and 12 and neither of them have ever been to a sleepover. Neither of them have ever tried to get one cooking at my house. And don't get me wrong - I do NOT want other kids at my house. But I wouldn't deny my kids the opportunity to make those memories. Are sleepovers just not a thing anymore? What is going on?

FL impression: Action Bronson - Planet Frog 🐸 - first listen was significantly better than anything the rollout had me believe in - the best work Action has put out in a while -first half of the album is decent - “MANDEM” is the turning point for me, amazing second half, especially sonically - Action has found his comfort zone (lyrically, flow-wise) like 3 albums ago and barely leaves it. Got better with this album tho - Fav songs: SIMONE, MANDEM

Schools really need to remember that PARENTS are still the ultimate authority over their own children. If I decide my child is staying home, going on a trip, taking a mental break, or simply needs time away from school… then that IS an excused absence because I excused it. I don’t need validation from a doctor, attendance officer, superintendent, or anybody else to parent MY child. And let’s be real… some of y’all are way too comfortable acting like kids belong more to the school system than to their own families. My child is not a robot programmed to wake up every morning and perform on command because the state says so. Childhood is short, and I’m not handing over all of my child’s most important years to a system that thinks perfect attendance matters more than real life, family time, mental health, or experiences outside a classroom. If I want my child home for a week, send the work. If that’s a problem, I’ll homeschool and teach them myself. Reading, writing, math — none of that is impossible without a school building. And before people start with “they need structure” — structure starts at HOME, not in a classroom. Don’t send me threatening attendance letters like you have more authority over my child than I do. The school does NOT dictate my child’s life or schedule. My kids are on MY schedule. Not yours.

You’re smart, Dave. Why do you work so hard to sound stupid? I say that as a fan. Rubin’s point is that if Iran had a nuke and closed the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. would be permanently unable to respond - at all. That is not the situation today. The U.S. has several ways to reopen the Strait: naval escort operations, minesweeping, air and missile strikes on Iranian launch sites and naval assets, cyber operations, and broader military escalation if necessary. None of those options is clean, cheap, or risk-free. So instead of immediately paying those costs, the U.S. is trying to squeeze the regime’s cash flow to force a deal. The hope is that Iran chooses a diplomatic off-ramp before the U.S. has to escalate. All this obvious. Sadly, you’re invested in the U.S.’s failure in Iran so you make stupid arguments that at some level you don’t even believe.

It’s truly unbelievable that the State Department put this clip out. So, Iran can’t be allowed to have a nuke (which they don’t) or they would be able to close the strait (which they already did) because we wouldn’t be able to stop them (which we currently can’t).

@thefinnmckenty Bro I remember sitting in my corporate video job in 2004/2005 STEAMING jealous at this dudes skill. Every motion job I did since then probably has a bit of his early “sequence design” influence in it. The car commercial stuff still holds up.

If you watched MTV, VH1 or Fuse in the 2000's you saw Justin Harder's work many, many times. This is his 2004 reel, and probably my single favorite design artifact of all time. He's pretty lowkey these days, but his work blew EVERYONE away back then and he was one of the most copied designers of the decade (myself included). IMO a lot of this stuff would still look fresh as hell if it came out today, and he definitely deserves his flowers for being such a huge part of that and era/aesthetic that so many people loved. AFAIK he's not on here, so I can't tag him.
