Just out of interest did you know that the tax on NZ high heat, clean burning coal (from both West Coast and Southland) is higher then on lower heat, dirtier NZ coal. I can't give you numbers because the tax rate changes on a monthly basis. Dunno why, probably to do with ETS or something. Also did you know that it takes x4 as many truck loads of wood pellets to fire all those boilers that have been converted from coal at all the hospitals, schools, govt and local govt buildings and places like Fontera plants that Labour legislated for when in Govt last term.

Before the last election, the coalition parties made a clear and repeated promise that they would replace or repeal references to the Principles of the Treaty. So. Why haven’t they? This was a specific commitment, reinforced again during coalition negotiations and written into the agreements that allowed them to form Government. When they failed (or chose to fail) to pass the Treaty Principles Bill we were assured that the issues would be resolved in their plans to remove Treaty Principles from legislation not actually related to the Treaty. These clauses have been inserted into legislation in ways that are vague, inconsistent, and open to wild interpretation. They have created legal uncertainty, shifted decision-making away from elected representatives, and made it harder for ordinary New Zealanders to understand how laws will be applied. We all thought the Government recognised this, and that’s why they said they would act. Since then, a review into the Treaty Principles clauses has been commissioned. That review has been completed and a report has been delivered to Minister Paul Goldsmith. And yet, we have seen and heard nothing. A Hobson’s Pledge supporter enquired with the minister and this is what she received: “I do not intend to release the report at this time” Ay?! Is he serious? Are we meant to just accept that the Government is not going to follow through on one of their key promises at the election and in coalition agreements? Not on my watch.  I’m sending my own letter to Minister Goldsmith. For a Government that campaigned on restoring democratic accountability and clarity in the law, the response in that letter is unacceptable. At this point, questions need to be asked. No, questions need to be ANSWERED. - Why is the report being withheld? - What advice did the Government receive? - If the problem was serious enough to justify a review in the first place, why has nothing changed? This is not a minor matter that they are backtracking on!  Treaty clauses are already influencing how laws are interpreted and how decisions are made across a wide range of areas. If the Government believes the status quo is justified, it should be prepared to show New Zealanders why. If reform is needed, it should be getting on with it. This goes directly to trust.  The parties currently in Government asked for our votes on the basis that they would deal with this. They cannot now expect voters to simply forget that promise was made. If they intend to walk it back, they should tell us. If they intend to keep it, they should release the report and set out a clear plan for what happens next. They can’t hide from this. We want to know either way because this is a big deal when they are all going to turn around in November and ask for our votes again. We have to make ourselves heard. Don’t let this slide. We have built a simple tool to make sure you can send a message directly to Minister Paul Goldsmith. Tell him to release the report and follow through on what was promised. Remind him that voters are paying attention. If this Government thinks it can make commitments like this and ignore them once in power, and we will all shrug it off, it is mistaken. New Zealanders remember what we were promised. We expect those promises to be kept. He iwi tahi tātou We are One People Elliot removetheclauses.nz

$rklb the silent titan is building an empire. 🚀 so, it’s finally happening. rocket lab just got the green light from the german regulators to officially swallow mynaric. if you aren’t paying attention to space stocks right now, you’re missing the most aggressive vertical integration play since early spacex. but this feels different. it feels more calculated. here is why this $75m+ deal (plus those spicy earn-outs) is actually the missing piece of peter beck’s 10-year master plan. the "laser" bottleneck everyone talks about rockets. "can they land it? how many tons to orbit?" but the real money isn't in the taxi ride; it's in the data. for years, the biggest hurdle for massive satellite constellations was how to talk to each other fast enough. radio waves are old school. lasers (optical communications) are the future. mynaric has the tech—the condor mk3—but they’ve been struggling with the "boring" stuff: scaling production and staying solvent. enter rocket lab. why germany said yes this was the scary part. germany is protective of its tech. but rocket lab played it smart. they aren't gutting the company; they’re turning munich into their european headquarters. this gives rocket lab a permanent boots-on-the-ground presence in the eu, making them a "local" player for esa contracts while keeping their hq in the us for the big nasa/pentagon money. it's a double dip. connecting the dots (the $515m factor) remember that massive sda (space development agency) contract rocket lab bagged? the one for 18 satellites? the government doesn't just want boxes in the sky; they want a "mesh network." by owning mynaric, rocket lab doesn't have to wait in line for laser terminals from third-party suppliers. they build the rocket, they build the bus, and now, they build the "phone" the satellite uses to call home. the margins on this are going to be insane compared to just selling a launch. the "spacex" of the mid-cap world i honestly think beck is out-maneuvering everyone. while other "new space" companies are fighting just to stay listed, rocket lab is shopping during a fire sale. they bought solar panels (solajet), they bought software (asi), they bought separation systems (psc), and now they own the laser link. it’s not a launch company anymore. it’s an end-to-end space infrastructure monster. the reasoning isn't perfect—there’s still a massive integration risk here. merging a kiwi-american fast-paced culture with a traditional german engineering firm can be a nightmare. we’ve seen these "synergies" fail before. but if they pull it off by the end of april? the "space systems" revenue is going to dwarf the "launch" revenue by 2027. and that’s where the real 10x potential sits. not financial advice, just staring at the stars and the balance sheets. what do you think—is vertical integration the only way to survive in space, or is rocket lab spreading themselves too thin by trying to own every single bolt and laser? #rklb #rocketlab #mynaric #spacestocks #investing #astronomics #spaceeconomy #nasdaq #deeptech #venturecapital

I think it is no coincidence that this compensation announcement for SPB was made the same day that the Mynaric aquistion approval was given by the German govt. You could say that last action has unlocked the future for Rocket Lab, no matter what headwinds they may face, and this is Sir Peters way of saying that.

@Twoxrod @RKLBMan I wouldn't be surprised to see Frank Klein given a senior role at Mynaric. That will help ease the pain of foreign ownership for Germany at least. As for the rest of Europe, l'm sure they will become amenable once they better understand $RKLB and Sir Peter Beck.

$RKLB now has an EU footprint, opening them up to ESA and being a part of the IRIS2 constellation. The EU can read the room. They understand they need to drive their own sovereign space initiatives for national security. They won't have US budgets, but they will absolutely need a proven, vertically integrated space company to help them.
Chris Ray@itschrisray

From the $RKLB x Mynaric press release: “Strategic Importance of the Acquisition: • The acquisition is expected to further strengthen Rocket Lab’s proven capabilities as a leading launch provider, spacecraft manufacturer, and supplier of satellite components at scale to the global space market. • Laser communication is a key enabler for satellite constellations. It provides transformative advantages over traditional radio frequency communications, including higher data rates, increased security, scalability, and efficient use of spectrum. Despite these benefits, laser communication has become a supply chain pain point for constellation operators, with products not readily available in high volumes at affordable prices. Through previous acquisitions Rocket Lab has a strong track record of taking satellite subsystems and components previously only available in subscale quantities and with long lead times and make them affordable and available at scale. Rocket Lab intends to do the same with Mynaric’s optical terminals to serve a growing list of customers and large constellations. • Mynaric will continue to be headquartered in Munich, Germany, upon the transaction closing, establishing Rocket Lab’s first European footprint and enabling the Company to expand its ability to support German and broader European space programs. • Mynaric is already a subcontractor to Rocket Lab, providing CONDOR Mk3 optical communication terminals for the Company’s $1.3 billion prime contracts with the Space Development Agency (SDA) to produce 36 satellites across the Transport Layer-Beta Tranche 2 and Tracking Layer Tranche 3 programs. Mynaric is also a supplier to other SDA contracts, and Mynaric and Rocket Lab share many customers spanning commercial constellation operators, satellite prime contractors, and defense and civil government agencies. Rocket Lab intends to scale production and introduce efficiencies to Mynaric’s existing manufacturing capability, providing customers with improved confidence their terminals will be delivered on schedule and on budget.” investors.rocketlabcorp.com/node/12266/pdf
