He was tired with the dull grey colours he was using in the Netherlands, it was in Paris that Van Gogh found influence in new colour and technique. But the south of france really brought that out in Van Gogh with its sun blazing country side, this is where his masterpieces began.

Summer Evening Wheatfield with Setting Sun, 1888. This is one of many Wheatfield paintings done by Van Gogh. He saw a representation of life in them and the labour of man harvesting through the seasons.
