Fun fact for the $10 billion lawsuit crowd. The IRS leak that exposed Donald Trump’s tax returns happened between August 2019 and November 2020. 405,427 other taxpayer returns were also leaked. Trump was president. His own pick, Charles Rettig, ran the IRS. The contractor who did it, Charles Littlejohn, worked on a Trump-era IRS contract and is now serving five years in federal prison. On January 29, 2026, Trump sued the IRS and Treasury for $10 billion over a breach that happened on his watch, under his commissioner, by a contractor his administration paid. He is suing the federal government he ran, for failing to stop a leak that occurred while he was running it. The taxpayer foots the bill either way.

Just a friendly warning. We don’t even make $200k per year in Congress despite working nearly 140 days. If we aren’t properly compensated, a lot of us will go to the private sector and you will be left with some real idiots in Congress.

@Brenden88361764 @thepondering_ Its been changed a bunch of times to match the number of circuits in the us. It stopped at 9 for no good reason and we now have 13 circuits. So we should in fact have 13 justices

counterpoint! court size can be changed, has been changed before (even by founding father presidents), republicans packed the court in 2017 and 2020 by changing rules, they've packed multiple state supreme courts, and y'all just feel entitled to a permanent conservative SCOTUS
Dilan Esper@dilanesper

This is obviously demagoguery, but to be clear, packing the Court to 13 Justices would destroy the independent judiciary and make the courts the political tool of whoever won the last electoral trifecta, while sending the rest of US law into chaos.

@gay_lumberjack Why don't we just have district design standards? I think the LA district mapping to ensure a Black rep looked wrong. I think breaking up Memphis to ensure no Black rep is also wrong,

@MikemanCommeth @actingliketommy 33% of lousiana is black and they are taking away 1 of the 2 majority black districts. 1/9 =/= 33% lil bro Same with tennessee they are breaking up the cities so the only vote that counts is white

So guys... if Republicans gerrymander every district in the country and take away every person's voting power, what do you think they do next with all that power? How many people lose all their rights? Gays? People of color? Women? Do they bring slavery back? They don't pass any legislation to help anyone. They don't even have a healthcare plan after promising one 10 years ago and dismantling everything we did have. They said no wars... and here we are. Promised cheap electricity bills but you got data centers taking all your resources and they want to make it so you can't even pass any laws to hold the AI companies accountable. So... if they get all this power, what will they even do? Force you to worship their god or go to prison? Will you eventually be sent to a work camp? I mean, realistically, we need to be asking these questions because they don't seem to be doing much but trying to take power and offering us citizens nothing in return.

@micah_erfan Micah, Memphis will be fine. Any candidate will have to respect their numbers and will have to have moderate policies that actually bring people together not segregation. Normal people in Memphis have always gotten along. The former Democrat congressman Harold Ford Jr could win

This is my frustration with the younger generations. They seem to think they should be starting where their parents are ending. Their parents didn’t start with a new BMW and a 2500sf house. They didn’t have a $1000 cell phone, they didn’t have a cell phone period. Yes, traditional college is a lot more expensive, but you can get an online degree from an accredited college for $7K.

@BladeoftheS There are certainly negatives to being a homeowner, but in general I do agree it's better than being a renter for most people. Also, the VAST majority of people can't afford a 10-15 year mortgage. The average is 29 years, with 30 years being the most common.

Literally the stupidest person on the planet. Pay a Mortgage for 10-15 years, never pay rent again, and have a house you can sell. Pay Rent for 60 years, never own anything, then end up on the streets with nothing.
jimmy@jimmysoldout

no shade but why would i literally ever buy a home… you still have to pay a mortgage monthly that would be the same cost as just paying rent atp. and at least with renting, the expenses for anything that goes wrong falls into the landlord instead of on you

@jimmysoldout If you are worried about paying a mortgage for so many years...ok but after that you own the house, but if you rent you own nothing and still have to pay rent. As far as appliances breaking, get a home warranty from like AHS. Just pay service call and everything is covered.

@TristanBauman @4_Ben_Media You are so close to getting it. Why are almost all of the poorest states with the worst hc, worst ed, worst damn near everything, all run exclusively by republicans and have been for many years. But the voters keep voting in the same people to lead them and not the other side

@4_Ben_Media This makes no sense and is a baseless assertion. If people honestly believed Democrats were fixing anything, why would voters suddenly change to Republican with the next election? The pendulum swing always moves back and forth. Neither is very effective at all
