@Brent59868053 @QuentinDempster Correct, I know of funding coming out of the UAE & Singapore for “build to rent”. Gov’s halving withholding tax to 15% Accelerated depreciation by 85%. 50% reduction in state land tax. ALP want these BTR 50+ ugly unit blocks everywhere = mass immigration = more votes.

Treasury estimates 35000 fewer new homes to be built on this budget, Mr Albanese said today, in response to that, that no, there will be no shortfal because of Labors build to rent policy. Corporations building homes for NO Australians to EVER own. Rent forever This says it all about Labor, and the Libs tbh, they are corporately captured, by Institutional capital, Blackrock and friends.

You’re barking up the wrong tree Mr Newman. With the ‘bank of mum and dad’ phenomenon, most older parents want their children and their young families to get into housing now .. and not have to wait to inherit their assets. Neg gear/CGT breaks distorted the market.
Campbell Newman@CampbellNewman

It's pretty simple. Young Australians just need to know this. @JEChalmers is taxing your future inheritance by taking it from your grandparents and parents right now. That's right. Do you want it or do you want the government to grab it?

This is a lie. When you’ve got no housing plan you fall back on scare campaigns and misinformation. Labor has already completed more than 6,000 social and affordable homes, including more than 1,000 through the HAFF. These homes are changing the lives of veterans, and women and children escaping domestic violence. More than 23,000 additional homes are now in planning and construction, including more than 17,000 under the HAFF. Homes take time to build. But this is part of our plan to deliver 55,000 social and affordable homes, a generational investment to support Australians doing it tough. The Coalition built just 373 social and affordable homes in a decade in office. Housing got worse under them and they did nothing. The section of the Budget papers they’re referring to relates to HAFF homes contracted in 2025–26. After contracting 18,000 homes in 2024–25, this year has focused on getting projects under construction and working with industry and community housing providers to design HAFF Round 3. HAFF Round 3 is rolling out right now and more than 21,000 additional homes will be contracted next financial year. The real question is this: if the Coalition cuts the HAFF - as they have promised - what happens to those homes and the Australians relying on them?
Senator Andrew Bragg@ajamesbragg

Good work Labor. $10 billion HAFF is on a 🦆

Hey Ben, did you indicate to Barnaby that ejecting/banning any accredited journalist from One Nation media conferences was authoritarian and coercive? If Barnaby and Pauline want to run the country they should be able to handle questions from any media outlet.
Ben Fordham Live@BenFordhamLive

The ABC is kicking up a fuss. They’ve been booted out of a press conference by One Nation. Barnaby Joyce says they are “having a meltdown”. Listen to his full conversation with Ben HERE. 2gb.com/meltdown-barna…

Watch Channel 7's Mark Riley destroy Jim Chalmers with a direct question. Grim Jim's answer was spectacular waffle, similar to what his trainer, Drain, oops, I mean Wayne Swan, would say. #Budget2026 #auspol

@PatsKarvelas How did the "deplorables " comment go for Hillary Clinton. What brain dead "progressives" like you miss, is that normal people enjoy seeing you and your ilk reved up and indignant just at their very existence. So keep it up, it's a great watch.

James Ashby ⁦@OneNationAus⁩ blames “COVID fear” and destructively depleted regional media (and ABC sucking up resources in SE corner) for his party’s electoral “haircut” in Queensland election. Every one else’s fault ... but his (and Pauline’s).

BREAKING: Our responsible approach in today’s Budget means we’ve improved the bottom line by $45b. Labor’s responsible economic management means that debt is lower, deficits are smaller and the Budget bottom line is stronger in every year. We’re getting the Budget in better nick because that helps to fund the things that Australians need and deserve like Medicare, aged care and cost-of-living relief.

@JEChalmers What sort of a Muppet runs an immigration ponzi, swaps secure Australian energy for intermittent Chinese garbage, totally fks the housing market, sends inflation and interest rates higher, and then thinks he's responsible and can run an economy?? Delusional Muppet Labor 🤡show!

Make Australia great again? If Pauline Hanson, Barnaby Joyce and One Nation expect to be taken seriously they should indicate their collective support for a 25% tax on future gas exports. Voters want this. They can see the unfair exploitation of their natural resources.
Australia Institute@TheAusInstitute

A 25% tax on gas exports is popular with voters across the political spectrum. Which is unsurprising considering it would raise $17 billion every year to help pay for essential services! #auspol

National Day of Mourning – 22 January 2026 Today, we pause to remember the 15 innocent lives tragically lost in the Bondi Beach terrorist attack on 14 December 2025. As members of Australia’s policing community, we honour the victims, support their families and stand with all those affected by this senseless act of violence. We also reflect on the dedication of the first responders and law enforcement officers who acted with courage and professionalism in the face of danger. Their service reminds us of the critical role policing plays in protecting our communities. On this National Day of Mourning, we encourage all Australians to: - Observing a minute of silence at 7:01pm AEDT - Supporting those impacted by the tragedy - Fostering compassion, unity, and resilience in our communities May we never forget the lives lost, and may we continue to work together to keep Australians safe.

I have witnessed One Nation in “action” in the Senate. Racist, anti union, economically incoherent and environmental vandals. Labor must demonstrate a clear progressive vision for working people on housing, cost of living, health and education. More of the same will not do.

@JEChalmers You're economically illiterate. Money doesn't build houses - builders, land, construction materials, permits, fuel and energy are needed. All adding money will do is make them more expensive for everyone to build.

BREAKING: We’re investing in infrastructure to build up to 65k more homes. In this Budget, we’re funding an extra $2B to build more homes for Australians. This will deliver the infrastructure like roads, water and power needed to get housing projects over the line. Building more homes and helping more Australians get into the housing market is a big focus of the Budget that we’ll hand down on Tuesday. @australian
