Sierra Leone is developing 6 rice hub clusters in Kambia, Port Loko, Tonkolili, Pujehun, Moyamba & Bonthe. This week, @ministry_a16484 with support from @AtoSL4105 visited proposed rice hub sites under #FeedSalone to assess land, infrastructure, inputs & services. The hubs will boost rice production, improve services for farmers & attract private sector investment through PPPs. In Tanzania, @The_AATI worked with the Government through the @AtoTanzania Office to co-design the Agriculture Master Plan 2050 (AMP 2050), a strategic roadmap for transforming food systems. AMP 2050 prioritizes youth and women across 15 flagship programs and 20 priority commodities, giving rise to the Building a Better Tomorrow (#BBT) program. This bold, multi-stakeholder initiative provides young people and women with land, training, finance, technology, and market access to build viable agribusinesses. Through BBT, youth are gaining: • Access to incubation farms for hands-on agribusiness training • Mechanization hubs for shared modern equipment • Irrigation schemes enabling year-round farming

Youth are the driving force of Africa’s agricultural transformation. Hon. “Measure what matters, manage what’s measured, and maximize impact.” That’s the power of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) — it informs decisions, ensures accountability, and drives results. But to do this effectively, we must answer a critical question: What does success look like? This is where a results framework comes in. Think of it as a roadmap: If we do X, we expect Y to happen. It brings clarity, focuses implementation, and supports learning across teams. “A results framework doesn’t just track progress — it builds a shared understanding of what success means and how we’ll get there.” Valery Okwenda, M&E Expert Through AATI’s support, results frameworks have been developed and embedded within @AtoTanzania, @AtoSL4105, and the Food Security War Room in Nigeria. These frameworks became useful only once delivery mechanisms were established, bridging the gap between planning and action. In Tanzania, the framework has fostered a results-oriented culture, enabling teams to prioritize key activities, identify quick wins, and anticipate potential outcomes. It has also kept implementation focused during periods of slowed momentum due to leadership transitions. “The moment you introduce a results framework, you introduce discipline — but also discomfort. That’s not a bad thing.” Valery Okwenda, M&E Expert The results framework has guided the rollout of flagship initiatives in climate-smart agriculture and agribusiness incubation, while reinforcing monthly reporting, data-driven learning, and improved institutional capacity. These efforts are helping translate policy into action and deliver real, measurable change on the ground. “For the first time, we had a structured way to track whether our activities were actually contributing to our goals — and we could course-correct faster.” says Valery. The takeaway? Building a results framework takes time and commitment — but the payoff is clear. Its delivery model emphasizes coordination, performance monitoring, and ensuring that transformation efforts respond to pressing national needs — especially around climate resilience and inclusive growth.

Building systems that deliver real results ATA-Togo is a leading example of transformation in action — combining mechanization, contract farming, and delivery support to raise farmer incomes and productivity. With the support of the World Food Programme’s TASC, it has helped scale the Planned Agricultural Development Zone (ZAAP) model, boosting yields and livelihoods in places like Gboto Zévé.
