For me it's extremely important we keep the consistency and unified world, where all the pieces of cross-media we make interact and support one another. Games, anime, and comic books tell stories from one world.
So when I was working on the Edgerunners Update for Cyberpunk 2077, I asked one of the designers, Piotr Kuma, to prepare those graves in Columbarium, with suitable metaphorical neon displays, related to given characters. I wanted the players to feel thrill of discovery, when they visit the graveyard, and watched Edgerunners. Seeing the heroes of the show commemorated like this was meant to be moving and touching.

@kociestopki I find it funny that OP fails to mention that you can actually side with Arasaka in one of the endings, thats literally a corpo roleplay.
Plus they can choose to never take gigs that harm corpos, or never kill corpos in main missions. They can already roleplay pro-corpo!

V's Corpo prologue is them being so overworked they vomit, then being fucked over by their company and stripped of everything. They become a merc because they don't trust corpos.
V is a defined character, not a blank slate like in Skyrim.

@Meelsie143 don't fully agree that that's the true motivation. One main question V is asked how they want to go 'Quiet life, or blaze of glory?' which reflects most of the endings. The scene at clouds tells us V wants to simply be remembered, a blaze of glory is just the merc way for that.

The “you can be a fan of a game without playing it” argument reminds me that people don’t see games as art. It’s a medium built around personal engagement, that's what gameplay is, it’s what makes games what they are. Is it really that hard to acknowledge and respect that?

As the gamers are being attacked for being "afraid of women" for disliking God of War Laufey, the same gamers are obsessed with Tasha from the Ace Combat 8 reveal trailer, and some of the other teaser materials, where she only shows up in a few minor portions. Seems like gamers are NOT afraid of "women" in games. They just don't like a certain kind of woman in games, and yet a conventionally attractive, petite, pink-haired girl gets a lot of positive attention. Hmmm, what could be the difference here? Maybe gamers are just sick of betrayed expectations where they expected to see Kratos, and you end up playing as a middle-aged mom instead. The reality is appeal. Without appealing characters, games flop, and even a character like her, who shows up in tiny portions of the promotional material, is enough to get a lot of people interested.
