🤩🙌 - A couple of weeks ago we had this fantastic young man who travelled all the way from Barrow to come and see the shop… He isn’t quite old enough to referee yet but has huge aspirations to become a ref one day, we couldn’t let him leave without a little gift!!

So Chelsea score twice in added on time after the allotted injury time, I'm interested to know if there has been the same reaction to this as Liverpool got for scoring once against Forest ? 🤔

Hopefully not but it’s reasons like this why gray got booked for his tribute to the Leicester chairman a few years back… not following laws of the game on one occasion could be the difference between getting or not getting promoted. Doesn’t always allow the human and emotional side to come into it. Should be wiggle room in my opinion

Referee Josh Smith stopping play here is an extremely classy move. I’m not sure if he’ll get marked down by his assessors for doing it but he absolutely shouldn’t.

Howard Webb Head of PGMOL kindly sent a video to one of our Year 11 students who is recovering from a broken collarbone! The student is an up and coming ref so RWBA’s Head of Year reached out to a contact in the community. Video credit to Martin Cassidy at @refsupportuk

😂😂 “Amusing grassroots moment today. My son was reffing u12s and the defender fell on top of the ball, striker fell onto him, another defender tripped and fell on top, followed by another striker into the mix. Parent shouts ‘pile on’. 😂😂😂. My son gave obstruction for the incident. He said player was laying on the ball, I said it’s a bit harsh when he has three players laid on top of him. To be fair no one argued.” ~ anonymous

Meet the ref🤩⚽️~ @CraigtheRef86 “I have always loved football since I was 2, played at youth level and got into coaching at 16, for a local dumfrieshire team. Moved away to Edinburgh and fast forward 15 years, @TweetsByFin gave me some advice and the inspiration to give refereeing a shot. I was desperate to give it a go and show my personality and passion on the pitch. Season 1 was whirlwind, I had 4 finals, one being in middle. I decided to step away from youth and just focus on amateur, love the level, the banter and competitiveness. I’ve Just been appointed another final next weekend for medal no 5… Been some journey so far and loved every minute in the pitch .” All the best for your upcoming final, Craig! 👏🏻🏆

📹🎥📸 Remember max? He is a young ref that is taking part in a body cam trial. He has told us all about it! “When I was first approached with the body cam trial I wasn’t quite sure how well they would actually work at dealing with dissent however, after my first game with one it became clear what a step forward they are for football. Players no longer feel the need to surround you shouting all the words under the sun, which allows for everyone to enjoy the game so much more - of course there are a few comments about using the camera for VAR, but they are all made in good spirits. Contrary to popular belief, they don’t record the entire game, rather only when they are pressed by the referee. The camera will then turn on and record 30 seconds before the button was pressed until 30 seconds after the button is pressed, which gives more insurance to referees across the board. For me, the body cam trial has positively impacted the game and it is something which should be used throughout grassroots.” ~ @RefYoung226

@ben_forbess @hemelfc Was behind the goal and I thought penalty. Arms both away from the body. While it was from a short distance, I felt the arm position was so unnatural that it had to be given.

Meet the ref🤩⚽️~ @gazza_2393 “This is my first season as an official. I have played football my whole life as a goalkeeper based in Devon. I got into refereeing for a few reasons. My children both played and often short of officials so i could offer my services if required. Playing was becoming more difficult juggling the kids matches and also my job as a firefighter. I still wanted to be involved and officiating gives me that flexibility of being able to do it without letting my “team” down when I couldn’t make it. Playing wise my career highlight was representing my home town club in the Devon county league at 19 years old. Officiating wise I have just been appointed to run the line in the Devon Premier Cup. Something I never imagined I could achieve let alone in my first season. I am L7 and have applied for L6. My first match as a referee was a Division 8 season opener. I was being observed as part of my training and had to give a penalty a yellow card for handball and a red card in the 89th minute for serious foul play. In a way it was good to get that first red card out the way. And it was an easy one to give as well and the player even said to me that’s the easiest red you’ll ever have to give. On the negative side I am finding youth games give me more trouble than open age. A lot of dissent (I’ve had to use the sin bin on 5 or 6 occasions in youth football, not once in adult) obviously parents and coaches get a lot more involved at that age as well and the kids hear the parents shouting and screaming and follow their lead. Overall im so glad i took up refereeing. It allows me to stay involved in football post playing years and im finding i have a good connection with players during games as i talk to them quite a lot and explain my decisions to them so they understand my way decision making. I wish I had done it sooner and im looking forward to what the future brings and trying to push myself to reach the highest level I can.” 👨🏻‍🚒

First game done! Manager "referee you've got some 50/50s wrong today" Happy to listen explain! I made two mistakes which I was happy to talk about and learn from Poor non advantage and one offside call! My worry is if that was a young referee who's learning! #grassroots
