Baby Amandia with her restricted mother Lorraine Mokgosi. Amandia has never seen her father, activist Stanza Bopape, who was “missing” at the time. It was later revealed that on 10 June 1988, Bopape was arrested by the police. He was taken to John Vorster Square where he was brutally tortured together with Murphy Morobe, a young activist from Soweto. He died on 12 June 1988, while in police custody, apparently from a heart attack following electric shock torture. His body was dumped in the crocodile-infested Komati River on the border of Mozambique and South Africa. Image Source: Learn and Teach Magazine
