@jonharris1989 If someone believes what the average American did in 1910, then they are supposedly a right-wing extremist.
English

@haymes_joshua @not_our_guy @EvangelicalDW My opinion of him: he was perhaps the best Neo-orthodox, but that's not saying much because the bar is so low. I've heard The Cost of Discipleship is really good that's probably what he's most well-known for in many circles.
English

Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
Was he a hero of the faith or a heretic?
A true statesman or a traitor?
I will be hosting @not_our_guy & @EvangelicalDW to discuss/debate Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM CT.
Be there for the live Q&A!

Turns out the answers for identity really are in Genesis:
- You were made either male or female
- God designed men and women to steward creation
- God gave woman to man as a helper
- God intended for families to form and spread out
- Having children is natural and expected
- Married couples should be economically independent
- Nations form as children are born and culture develops
- Language is our greatest natural separator
- Sin is our greatest spiritual problem
- The Devil tells us lies against God's order
- God is just and merciful to mankind

@theThinkInst Mighty God, Father, Friend might be introduced at my church this year. A bunch of us are still fans of Citizens and Ghost Ship.
English

@Theonomoney My family and I still listen to Citizens, and Ghost Ship remains one of my favorite bands to this day.
English

@CharleBhon God's truth is God's truth.
Calvin died a long time ago and we're still Calvinists, and the theology predated him.
Rushdoony died somewhat recently and we're still theonomists, and the theology predated him.
English

@Theonomoney Maybe, but you're a theonomist. The 1980's ended a long time ago.
English

@EddyEkofo Washer and Ravenhill: I speak at a lot of Baptist churches once.
English

@Theonomoney I normally tell people, I try my best not to be asked to return 😅
English

@Theonomoney @Chris_Hohnholz Right, I’m not referring to that.

Here’s my 2 cents about guys and their hobbies:
Everybody has something that they like to occupy their free time with. And not everyone shares the same interests.
Some guys like to build things.
Some guys like to play video games.
Some guys like to shoot and hunt.
Some guys like to read and write.
Some guys like sports.
Some guys like camping.
Some guys like to build models.
Some guys like to hit the gym.
Some guys like home renovations.
Some guys like gardening.
Some guys like to go to ComicCons with the families.
Some guys like doing a combination of all of the above, or none of them at all.
The list goes on and on.
Hobbies are just that, hobbies. They are an area of interest that people spend time on.
And, as long as they are not inherently sinful, no hobby is more or less acceptable.
Folks might prefer hobbies that outwardly appear more “manly” (ie, sports, guns, building stuff, etc), and there is nothing wrong with that.
But just because a guy has interests that don’t seem to align with commonly perceived masculine traits doesn’t mean that guy is less manly.
What makes a man masculine is not solely defined by his personal interests and hobbies.
What defines his masculinity is determine by how he lives his life.
Is it in accord with the word of God? Does he work hard and provide a good life for him and his family? Is he dedicated to living as a man before the Lord? Does he submit his life to God in all ways?
These things define his masculinity, not whatever the current cultural zeitgeist might be.
Anyway, that’s my 2 cents on the matter.
Chris Hohnholz@Chris_Hohnholz
Yep! That’s me alright! Not a moment of shame either! Folks should consider having a family hobbies, great way to spend time together! Oh, and I’ve done a little volunteer work in those suits. Helped raise money, visited some sick kids, even did a birthday party! Fun times!
English

@SiliconConley @Chris_Hohnholz Isn't bronie the My Little Pony porn thing? I'm pretty sure he'd call porn a not okay hobby.
English

@Chris_Hohnholz I suspect your 2¢ may suffer from inflation.😅
Do you really not think there’s a difference between a bronie and a gearhead?
English

@Theonomoney I understand that reference (John Wesley ftw)

@plainstriumph Idk man, the YRR did have some redeeming aspects. I still listen to Mars Hill bands to this day. Ten years from now it may have had a more godly, lasting impact than the NCR movement. If nothing else, we got Les Lanphere out of it.
English

@Theonomoney I’ve been saying this for a while. It may last a bit longer because it has a fuller resourcement and is less Jesus juking but still
English

@LizzieMarbach I do play video games with my wife sometimes. We both like pokemon.

The female version of this is cursing, or engaging in any kind of culturally perceived masculine behavior. Men are attracted to ladies!
Lizzie Marbach@LizzieMarbach
I know this is unpopular, but it will always be unattractive for a grown man to play video games. Some women might be understanding or pretend like they don’t care that you spend hours playing, but they do. It is extremely unattractive to women and will never not be. 🤷🏼♀️
