@MrJackLowe I thought this was the generation who care so much for the environment

@NewarkAirMus There are tiny bits, like this, left of Mepal airfield, very close to my house. The joy of finding bits of original runway and working drains, derelict buildings and dispersal pans.

On our #SouthfieldSite we have an access point to one of the original #RAFWinthorpe main runway drains & it still carries run-off water!

Whilst it may appear that running the WW2 Airfields Archive Twitter is a glamorous gig, please don't be fooled. Here's a sewer I saw on a WW2 airfield over the weekend. Thankfully I don't think it's had anything flush through it for about 80 years 💩

Hitting the classics tonight. The quality of this recoding belies its 50+ years. #NowPlaying The Yes Album

@Gliderpilot44 Cool - get the lights and siren on quickly before they change their mind

@1940Andy I think only Britain could produce people such as those golf club members. Damn bad show waging war and bleeding on our carpet.

#OnThisDay 1961: Brave New World novelist Aldous Huxley spoke with John Morgan about dystopian and utopian worlds and the increasing influence that technology was having over peoples lives.

@akazeeox Bizarrely managed is right, there seems to a willingness to actively delay the whole thing.
English

It's not as if there seems to be any pressure or urgency on the project being finished. Some parts are now open, sure, but it seems hit and miss along the whole stretch and poorly managed (with open holes with associated detritus left for weeks on end).🤔

Another tree bites the dust and is left in a cluttered pile of red fencing to stagnate in #Cambridge's - increasingly-bizarrely managed - #MiltonRoad "upgrade".
(Presumably to be replaced by a smaller sapling in a slightly different spot later down the line. JUST LIKE BEFORE.)

Launching for the Sunday’s display at @IWMDuxford alongside 3 Spitfires. An unforgettable experience! @ACDuxford
English

@unamccormack You could add several more degrees on Duxford airfield 😳. I manfully withstood it though.
English

@HurricaneR4118 @IWMDuxford Saw you today ( Sunday) - excellent. Americans from 351st Air Refuelling were also most impressed.
English

A “pinch yourself” moment at @IWMDuxford yesterday in formation with 3 Spitfires. Thank you to the superb team at ARCo for making this possible…. And the best bit is that I get to do it all again today 😊
English

FANTASTIC to see the world’s only airworthy Bristol Blenheim Mk I flying today at @IWMDuxford’s air show. Stunning aircraft. Did you know that at the outbreak of WWII the RAF had more of these (over 1000) than any other aircraft type? @Aircraft_ARC

@ProfBrianCox @TobyVenables And did you complain - no, people today don’t know there born

You were lucky. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah. And you try and tell the young people of today that ... they won't believe you.
