Ah oui — les Jeux olympiques des photos des Grands Lacs sont officiellement lancés, et les médailles d’or du cynisme criminel sont âprement disputées par @GeneralNeva et @fatshi13. L’épreuve ? Théâtre compétitif de la gratitude, édition Banyamulenge. Les règles sont simples : rassembler un petit groupe soigneusement choisi d’hommes banyamulenge, élégamment habillés, les placer devant les caméras, leur arracher des « merci » et sourire comme de bienveillants gardiens de la paix. Les points sont attribués selon le nombre de participants, la mise en scène et — surtout — l’audace du mensonge. Premier tour : Gitega. Le président Ndayishimiye aligne six hommes. Une prestation honorable : sourires soignés, poignées de main fermes, hochements de tête calculés pour suggérer une « sollicitude » sincère. Le message ? « Nous vous protégeons. » Coupez. Deuxième tour : Kinshasa. Le président Tshisekedi hausse les enchères : huit hommes cette fois. Distribution plus large, performance plus théâtrale. Plus de gratitude, plus d’images, plus de fiction. Quelque part, un conseiller, @PatrickMuyaya murmure probablement : « Excellence, nous avons surpassé Gitega. » Et puis — parce qu’aucune satire ne peut égaler la cruauté de la réalité — le grand final : alors que les applaudissements de ces cérémonies mises en scène s’éteignent, des drones s’élèvent au-dessus des villages banyamulenge et réduisent les habitations en cendres. Pas métaphoriquement. Littéralement. Le feu tombe du ciel, orchestré par les mêmes écosystèmes de pouvoir désormais occupés à collectionner des « merci ». C’est une leçon magistrale d’alchimie politique : transformer les victimes en accessoires, les cendres en silence et la complicité en posture d’homme d’État. Si l’ironie était combustible, toute la région serait déjà en flammes — malheureusement, ce sont les villages réels qui s’en chargent. On pourrait presque admirer l’efficacité. Pourquoi traiter la violence quand on peut simplement la rebaptiser ? Pourquoi protéger une communauté quand on peut orchestrer sa « gratitude » ? Pourquoi affronter la réalité quand une photo bien cadrée peut l’enterrer ? Six hommes. Huit hommes. Demain peut-être douze, pour un récit visuel encore plus convaincant. Des tenues assorties ? Des applaudissements coordonnés ? Une larme répétée à l’avance ? Après tout, rien ne dit « sécurité » comme un remerciement parfaitement mis en scène de personnes dont les maisons fument hors champ. Ce n’est pas seulement du déni. C’est du déni avec mise en scène. Pas seulement de la tromperie, mais une tromperie qui réclame des applaudissements. Et la chute la plus grotesque ? Les mêmes dirigeants qui supervisent la destruction rivalisent maintenant pour être photographiés en sauveurs des détruits. Si cela s’appelle du leadership, alors la satire a officiellement pris sa retraite — surpassée, humiliée et ridiculisée par la réalité.

What we are witnessing between @GeneralNeva and @FelixUdps is not diplomacy, not leadership, and certainly not protection of vulnerable citizens in North and South Kivu. It is a grotesque competition in staged gratitude—manufactured theater by @PatrickMuyaya, designed to invert reality so brazenly it would be laughable if it were not soaked in blood. Six Banyamulenge men paraded in Gitega. Eight in Kinshasa. One can almost imagine aides counting heads like props before a press briefing: “We need two more for tomorrow’s gratitude performance.” The script is identical—handpicked Banyamulenge men “thanking” the very leaders whose forces, allies, and proxies are implicated in the systematic destruction of their communities. And then, almost as if choreographed for maximum obscenity, the photo ops are followed by reports of drones incinerating Banyamulenge villages in the highlands. Smiling handshakes in presidential palaces; burning homes in Minembwe. Applause in marble halls; ashes in the hills. This is not contradiction—it is criminal coordination. The message from both capitals is chillingly clear: erase the victims, then manufacture their consent. Kill the reality, then stage the narrative. In this upside-down world, those under attack are made to appear grateful, while those presiding over their suffering pose as saviors. It is propaganda stripped of even the pretense of subtlety. There is something uniquely cynical about this spectacle. Not just denial—but performance. Not just indifference—but mockery. The Banyamulenge are not only being targeted; they are being used as unwilling actors in a political farce meant to sanitize violence and confuse observers. And perhaps the most disturbing element is how interchangeable the scenes are. Gitega or Kinshasa—it hardly matters. Six men or eight—what difference does it make? The script remains the same: stage-managed gratitude masking organized brutality. History has seen many attempts to rewrite truth in real time. Few have been this crude, this arrogant, and this contemptuous of both victims and intelligence. If this is what passes for leadership in the region today, then the tragedy is not only in the burning villages—it is in the calculated, deliberate effort to make the world believe that those villages are not burning at all.
