My deepest condolences to my brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, his family and the people of Qatar on the passing of His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani will be remembered as a visionary leader who transformed Qatar into the remarkable nation it is today. His legacy of service to his people and commitment to friendship and cooperation among nations will endure for generations. At this difficult time, the people of Rwanda and I stand with His Highness Sheikh @TamimBinHamad and our Qatari brothers and sisters.

Today, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva visited the Muvumba Multipurpose Dam Project in Nyagatare, a key investment in Rwanda’s sustainable development. On the sidelines of the #AIforGood Global Summit 2026, President Kagame met with President @AlarKaris of Estonia. The two leaders discussed ways forward to strengthen bilateral relations, in key areas of mutual interest including digital innovation and e-governance.

“Today, connectivity is no longer the end goal. We are now transitioning to the era of data-driven growth. Artificial intelligence is the common denominator that will redefine healthcare, education and energy, among many other sectors. As a commission, our mission is to ensure this transformation does not widen existing divisions. The task ahead of us is urgent, but we will face challenges. The objective isn’t just to have a conversation. It is to ensure everything we agree to do, gets translated into tangible and practical outcomes.” President Kagame President Kagame joined fellow Co-Chair Marc Benioff and Vice-Chair Doreen Bogdan-Martin for a fireside chat marking the launch of the AI for Good Global Commission. He then chaired the Commission’s inaugural meeting alongside Marc Benioff and Doreen Bogdan-Martin. The high-level initiative brings together 44 commissioners to identify practical ways to harness artificial intelligence to address some of the world’s most pressing challenges.

“Artificial intelligence has the power to transform lives and strengthen economies. Africa is well-positioned to contribute to the digital economy. By 2050, our continent will have the largest, fastest-growing workforce in the world. There are many success stories about what our young people are doing on the continent with artificial intelligence. We have to invest in them. It will be a win-win for everyone. President Kagame is in Geneva where will deliver a keynote address at the opening of the @AIforGood Global Summit 2026, and officially launch the AI for Good Global Commission, along with co-chair Marc @Benioff, CEO and Co-Founder of Salesforce, vice-chair Doreen Bogdan-Martin, @ITUSecGen, President @HallaTomas of Iceland and President @AlarKaris of Estonia. The Summit, co-convened by @ITU and Switzerland, is being held under the theme, “Unlocking AI’s potential to serve humanity.”

Today in Dar es Salaam, @Dominiquehab, Hon. Minister of Local Government, joined Ministers from the 8 EAC Partner States for the Ministerial Session of the 1st EAC Sectoral Council on Social Affairs. Rwanda underscored the need for inclusivity and leaving no one behind in regional social policies for sustainable socio-economic development. Today, as Rwanda marks the 32nd anniversary of Liberation Day, Prime Minister Nsengiyumva joined residents of Bigogwe Sector in Nyabihu District for the closing ceremony of the Defence and Security Citizen Outreach Programme (DSCOP 26), where he inaugurated 30 newly built homes for vulnerable families.
