President Trump knows how bad it will look if he pulls out of the war and allows the regime to survive and declare victory. Especially after American soldiers were killed, and oil prices are surging. Going after Kharg's IRGC sites is one of the most effective and risk free ways to break this regime. 90% of oil exports from Iran go through Kharg Island. If Trump decides to occupy it, there will be an internal regime crisis, and it will be CATASTROPHIC for them. They won't survive it. They'll be reduced to the same power level as a Latin American cartel, if even that.
