@KarstResearch Sold a long-dated gamestop call option for $100 profit like 2 months before all that wall street bets stuff happened 😔
Would have been worth like $10K near the peak lol

@Sk8Couch @FernBallew A boomer saw their grandkids playing tony hawk pro skater, and thought it was something they needed to worry about 💀
English

@FernBallew There’s a library in my neighborhood that literally put skatestoppers on the fucking roof. I’ll post a pic next time I’m there, it makes me laugh every time I see it
English

Another successful install completed.

Josh Ballew@FernBallew
I’m the guy whose job it is to put skatestoppers on things nobody would skate anyways I make $190,000/year

@xnanoblack @TillamookDairy Hm apparently blue bell distributes to my region, just not the usual store I shop at
English

@thiojoe @TillamookDairy Tillamook is very good. I would put it just above Hagen-daz, it's very close.
Ben and Jerry's is always great typically they're best
Also you've probably never tried because it's region locked but if you get the chance to get it try - blue bell. I think it's the best out of all

When you lost the Cookies & Cream ice-cream lottery, and it’s all cream no cookies.
Guess it’s the universe balancing out from the last tub I bought, which was like 50% cookie. Which I’d gladly pay extra for every time, why doesn’t that exist?

@sterlingcrispin I assume they’d at least make way more afterwards in private sector or intelligence branches, because of their experience

@docneto @caraksha103 The luggage claims are usually publicly accessible
English

@caraksha103 The process of affording flying, deciding on a destination, purchasing a ticket, going to the airport, getting through security, sitting on the flight then getting off the plane, screens out the low-quality people that would consider this a sensible thing to do.

It’s very telling the woman thinks being asked about herself is boring.
It’s also very telling the man folds like a paper towel at the first hint of resistance.
Both need to be fixed & I have no idea how.

@thiojoe Who the hell writes their for loops on separate lines
English

@thiojoe why is this made with AI
English

@YoMammasBacon I don’t intend to do it for every video, but the discussion type videos where I literally just sit and talk, the raw thumbnails are actually more true to what to expect so I think that’s why they do better
English

@thiojoe Yea, I find it annoying too, but its what people click on. I do find as a veiwer of some channels that do this, is i stop taking you seriously and stop clicking on as many videos. So then i end up missing some atuff thats important.

I remember a while back I said that if you make over $200k a a year and still mow your own lawn, you're doing it wrong.
Now that the average quote I'm getting for my lawn is $400 a month, I think I'm changing my mind on that statement.
What are folks running for lawnmowing equipment on a 1 acre mow these days?
English

I think the difference the thumbnail makes depends a lot on the title. Like if you figure out what the video is about based on the title, they'll decide whether to watch regardless of the thumbnail.
But if it's a video topic that is hard to put into words, a different thumbnail makes a major difference.
English

YouTube thumbnails no longer make sense to me. I ran these as a bit of a cynical test, and they split 51/49. It's like the title and thumbnail have almost zero impact on total watch time!
Am I crazy? I know @thiojoe has been venting a bit about his thumbnail adventures, so perhaps I'm not alone here...

AI undoubtedly has tremendous use already.
But it’s also being overhyped in its capabilities, and also people think it’s better than it is without realizing it.
Taylor Lorenz@TaylorLorenz
Ppl who believe that AI has no consumer use, how do u square that with skyrocketing use of AI and ChatGPT being the fastest growing consumer technology of all time? ChatGPT alone has 6.7M reviews and a 4.8 rating in the app store. People love these tools, how do u explain that?
English

It’s because of non-devs vibe coding with tools never meant for normies.
NPM, PyPi, Nuget, they all need to disappear. They’re just malware factories at this point.

pretty sure I remember hearing a bunch of people say ''one of the signs of AGI is when a lot of companies and protocols suddenly mysteriously start getting hacked"
