I think that Telemachus says “dad” to communicate that he is immature. I think that Antinous says “daddy” to communicate that he is patronizing and mean. I don’t think that “father” is a good substitute for either and I think that people have pretty much always been the same.

@alaskastardust This is the kind of thing that makes me get Stalinist, but also my little brother’s public elementary school in Kanawha made the decision to stop teaching science and social studies because they were “so behind” on math and reading. Just absolutely failing children at every turn.

I used to work with somebody who admitted that she never studied history while homeschooled because her parents only taught her English and math. I still can’t believe you’re allowed to do that to a kid.
