After 26 years of homeschooling, I can tell you what’s important: Phonics Reading well Writing well Math World geography World history American history Understanding the natural world Logic/critical thinking Government Economics These are foundational. They allow a graduate to function in the real world, and to develop individual skills and interests. There are numerous other things for kids to learn, and those strengthen these most important things, but they are not dealbreakers. With the first four, a person can achieve anything.

If you can, build a structure on your land the moment you buy it, even if you don't need it yet. Just build something. A woman bought 5 acres about 7 years ago and planted cashew trees. She’s been harvesting for two years, but recently, a dispute arose. I advised her to at least build a shop on the property, she sold enough cashew nuts at least. You won't believe it, that someone showed up recently claiming he bought 10 acres there 10 years ago. If she had built a permanent structure earlier, it likely would have forced a settlement, allowing her to keep the land. Now, while those two were arguing, a third man showed up with a C of O, claiming he bought 200 acres there 40 years ago! 😭😭😭

@princeauwall1 @bigbrovar 2/2. If they do, the river dries up in Nigeria and even fishermen can’t fish not to talk of Kainji Dam producing electricity. You don’t want them to do that? You sit with them and negotiate. They ask you to give them some of the electricity you’d produce at Kainji, you say okay.

@princeauwall1 @bigbrovar 1/2. River Niger does not belong to Nigeria in the way Nigerians imagine it does. River Niger started from Mt Fouta Jalon in Guinea and flows through multiple countries before entering Nigeria. Any of those countries can dam/divert the river and leave nothing for Nigeria.

Nigeria has obligations under the Niger Basin Authority to cooperate with upstream countries. Part of that includes power sharing agreements to discourage excessive damming upstream of the Niger River, which could affect generation at Kainji Dam.
Ifediche@esther_stan

One thing I never understood growing up was how Nigeria supplied neighboring countries with constant electricity while we struggled with it. I’m an adult and it’s still a puzzle for me.

How much you will REALLY make from farming 10 acres of plantain in Nigeria Today, we’re breaking it down with real numbers. No hype. No guesswork. Just reality. And yeah… there’s something most people don’t tell you. Stay with me. ⸻ First rule: Land cost is NOT included. Second rule: If you want consistency, you need structure. So let’s build that. ⸻ LABOUR (this is where discipline starts) 5 farm workers = ₦80,000 each 1 farm manager = ₦100,000 👉 Monthly = ₦500,000 Plantain is not a one-time crop. It’s a system. 👉 ₦500,000 × 12 = ₦6,000,000 yearly ⸻ PLANTING Spacing: 2m × 2m 👉 ~1,000 stands per acre 👉 10 acres = 10,000 stands Healthy suckers: ₦200–₦250 👉 10,000 × ₦250 = ₦2,500,000 Land prep & planting? Handled by your team. ⸻ NOW… THE PART PEOPLE LOVE TO IGNORE INPUTS Fertilizer (NPK + Urea + organic support): 👉 ~8 bags per acre annually 👉 80 bags total 👉 ₦50,000 × 80 = ₦4,000,000 Herbicides + pesticides: 👉 ₦1,000,000 ⸻ IRRIGATION (optional… but not really) If you depend on rain: 👉 Your yield becomes seasonal 👉 Your income becomes unpredictable Basic drip setup: Per acre ≈ ₦580,000 👉 10 acres = ₦5,800,000 ⸻ TOTAL INVESTMENT (let’s be honest here) Salaries: ₦6M Suckers: ₦2.5M Fertilizer: ₦4M Chemicals: ₦1M Irrigation: ₦5.8M 👉 Total = ₦19.3M ⸻ Now… the part everyone rushes to. YIELD You planted 10,000 stands. Reality check: 👉 15% loss (wind, disease, weak stands) 👉 ~8,500 productive plants Each gives: 👉 1 bunch ⸻ PRICE (this is where dreams adjust) Plantain isn’t sold like you think. It’s per dozen. Market reality: Glut season: ₦40,000 – ₦50,000 per dozen 👉 ~₦3,500 – ₦4,000 per bunch Dry season: ₦100,000+ But let’s stay conservative: 👉 ₦4,000 per bunch ⸻ REVENUE ₦4,000 × 8,500 👉 ₦34,000,000 ⸻ FINAL NUMBERS Revenue: ₦34M Investment: ₦19.3M 👉 Profit: ₦14.7M 👉 ROI: ~76% in 9–12 months ⸻ MY VERDICT Plantain is not a “quick cash” crop. It’s a cash flow engine. The people who lose money? They treat it like a one-time harvest. The people who win? They build a system around it. ⸻ Now let’s talk strategy… If you had ₦19.3M today: Are you planting plantain alone? Or… Are you combining it with something smarter (cucumber, pepper, short-cycle cash crops) to make money before plantain even matures? ⸻ That answer right there? That’s the difference between a farmer… and a business owner.

“How much you will REALLY make from farming 10 acres of pineapple in Nigeria” Today, we’re breaking down pineapple farming with real numbers — based on market research and actual farming experience. No hype. No assumptions. Just reality. Stay with me. ⸻ 10 acres. No hype. Just numbers. ⸻ First, this assumes you already have land. So no land cost included. Now let’s do this properly… not “online farming”. If you want this to actually work, you need a system. That means: 5 farm workers 1 farm manager If: Manager = ₦100k/month Workers = ₦80k/month That’s: ₦100k + (₦80k × 5) = ₦500k/month For a full pineapple cycle (12–15 months with induction — and yes, you SHOULD induce your pineapple): 👉 ₦6M – ₦7.5M on salaries alone ⸻ Now let’s plant. Pineapple (Smooth Cayenne): About 8,000 – 10,000 suckers per acre I recommend staying on the lower side to reduce risk (especially disease spread and field stress). Average cost per sucker: Local farmers: ₦120–₦180 IITA: ~₦200 Let’s use ₦175. 👉 80,000 suckers × ₦175 = ₦14M ⸻ Land prep (clearing + ridging) will be handled by your staff. Planting labor — also covered. ⸻ Inputs (this is where most people get it wrong) Fertilizer (multiple applications at different growth stages): NPK 15-15-15 → 2 bags/acre NPK 20-10-10 → 3 bags/acre NPK 12-12-17 → 2 bags/acre NPK 15-5-20 → 2 bags/acre Total across 10 acres: 👉 90 bags Average cost per bag (blended estimate): ₦50,000 👉 ₦50,000 × 90 = ₦4.5M You’ll also need supplements like urea. ⸻ Herbicides + pesticides: 👉 Budget ≈ ₦1M ⸻ Irrigation (this is where the real capital sits) Basic drip setup: Drip hose: ₦80,000 per 400m roll 10 rolls per acre = ₦800,000 Emitters: ₦100 each × 8,000 = ₦800,000 per acre Layflat: ₦80,000 per 100m 👉 Total per acre ≈ ₦1.68M For 10 acres: 👉 ₦16.8M ⸻ Now let’s total everything conservatively: Salaries: ₦7.5M Suckers: ₦14M Inputs: ₦5.5M Irrigation: ₦16.8M 👉 Total investment: ≈ ₦43.8M ⸻ Now the part everybody likes… YIELD You planted 80,000 pineapples. You will NOT harvest 80,000 sellable fruits. Let’s be realistic: 👉 ~15% loss 👉 68,000 – 70,000 good fruits ⸻ Price (this is where expectations usually crash) Pineapple is priced per dozen: Glut: ₦8,000/dozen ≈ ₦600 per fruit Good market: ₦20,000/dozen ≈ ₦1,600 per fruit Let’s stay conservative: 👉 ₦800 per fruit ⸻ Revenue: 68,000 × ₦800 = 👉 ₦54,400,000 ⸻ Yes… read that again. You spent ~₦43.8M You made ~₦54.4M 👉 Profit ≈ ₦10.6M 👉 ROI ≈ 22% in 12–15 months ⸻ So is pineapple profitable? Yes. But only if you play it properly. ⸻ Important things to note: This is a conservative selling price (it can go higher) Drip irrigation is reusable You won’t need to buy suckers again next cycle Meaning: 👉 Your second cycle cost drops significantly ⸻ So where is the “big money” everyone talks about? Here’s the truth: 👉 The real money is in: Off-season production Direct buyers (cut out middlemen) Export or processing ⸻ Biggest lie in pineapple farming: “Just plant, you’ll cash out.” Reality: 👉 Market timing > yield 👉 Buyers control price 👉 Poor planning = guaranteed loss ⸻ My verdict: Pineapple is NOT a get-rich-quick crop. It’s a system + market game. ⸻ So now tell me honestly: If you have ₦43.8M… Are you investing in pineapple or doing something else? ⸻ Next episode our next crop is going to be PLANTAIN the numbers will blow your mind away.

“Christianity in Nigeria has no fathers. One young man was speaking intensely, saying Enoch Adeboye and David Oyedepo should speak out, and I asked myself, are these the fathers of Christianity in Nigeria? These are denominational leaders. Christianity in Nigeria has no father. A father would be someone who looks after us all, not just promoting denominational agendas and competing over who is building a one-mile auditorium while another tries to build two miles. One has one aircraft, another wants three. The competition has no spiritual content.” — Rev. Isaac Omolehin. 👏🏽
