I think expectations of the .io tld's demise are premature. Not only is there a lot of money in .io domains, there's a strong argument to be made it's never really been used as a geographic tld, especially as there's no permanent residents in the area it represents.

It's going to be interesting years from now finding out all the final pager targeting. Did they know who had which? Did they know where the phones physically were? What if they were in a place like an airport? When was the kill list finalized before being sent? A lot of unknowns.

@barrow29 @warkspolice I dunno.... obviously I can't really tell from the images how sharp it is, but 'bladed article' does make it appear like this is actually a small knife, and not just something that could be a bit pokey.... We'd also need to see the CCTV and see how he was behaving with it too...

Utter disgrace here from both the Police and the Magistrate who sentenced him. A letter opener is not a knife. Anyone who feels threatened by one is not a "reasonable person".

cannot emphasize enough how horrid chatgpt is, y'all. it's depleting our global power & water supply, stopping us from thinking or writing critically, plagiarizing human artists. today's students are worried they won't have jobs because of AI tools. this isn't a world we deserve

@AntiCheatPD @RiotVanguard It's baffling to see people talking about this like it's a good thing. If Riot is really doing MMIO, that's down at the level where there's no guard rails. If they make one f*ckup they could *brick* your machine. Do you people seriously trust game devs with that level of access?

Cheating communities have finally realized that they are simply unable to spoof TPM since @RiotVanguard's team is able to obtain the TPM EK directly from MMIO, which is unhookable and unbypassable. TPM is currently the strongest form of HWID. The way cheaters get around it is by buying a TPM chip costing $30-$15 + shipping thats if their motherboard supports it even. However, Vanguard can differentiate between a TPM chip and a Firmware TPM, leading to faster manual checks and resulting in bans. The Vanguard team probably has one of the most effective HWID banning systems in the industry, and it has been driving cheat developers nuts for the last three years. This should be an industry standard for other games as well!

@enoreads @tukka_tukka It's a rhetorical trick. They present "proshipper" as the active position when really "anti" is the active position and "proshipper" is the default, ie: everyone who isn't "anti".

Generally browser extensions are bad ideas to have installed. You really do not want ones you do not fully need today.

🧵 Many a year ago, we actually looked at the privacy practices of some of the most popular browser extensions, and it was... kinda terrifying. Some antivirus extensions were not only sending your browser history to the vendor, but actually sending https:// URLs over HTTP!

@ChrisLewisLee @Dnbc32 I would assume any logged on apps and any passwords saved in your browser got compromised. I don't know what this one does, but that's what previous versions of this have done.
