@Jimfrombaseball Doggie and me at the Great Eight mural at Great American Ballpark. My fave since 1967!!!
He was in town this weekend with Bench, Foster, Griffey and Geronimo.
"Tony Pérez stood out because he was a clutch hitter.
And like Bench, Morgan, and Rose, it was a clutch October hit that immortalized him in baseball’s postseason lore.
The powerful first baseman hit three home runs against Boston during the 1975 World Series, but none bigger than his blast against Bill Lee."
Tucker Elliot.
"To hear words like cutoff man, go to first, go to third, simple things like that.
I had to learn how to play the game all over again in English.
When it came to foods it was a guessing game.
I'm proud of my whole career.
I had a great career. I played with a lot of great players on good teams, especially in Cincinnati.
We won Championships and World Series.
I'm proud of that.
The All-Star games."
Tony Perez.
"How can anyone as slow as you pull a muscle?"
Pete Rose to Tony Perez.
@cammillerfilms Elly is amazing. But just to add old-dude context, from a lifelong Doggie idolizer ... this year's Reds played 9 games before the '70 Reds even got started on April 6. ;)
On 4/28/1970 Tony Perez hit his 10th HR of the season, clanging it off the Crosley Field flag pole in left-center.
On 4/28/2026, Elly De La Cruz hit his 10th HR of the season into the left field seats.
The 10 HRs are the most by a Red before May. #Reds
For over 30 years, I have had this Tracy Jones card in my wallet. He was my fav player. Amazingly, I have met a lot of players in my line of work, but somehow we have never crossed paths. If we do, I will show him this and thank him for inspiring me as a ballplayer to give 100%.
Larry Bird and Indiana State march through Cincy on way to Final Four in 1979. Oh....and you should pick up @KeithOB new book on Larry Legend! keithob.com
Miami of Ohio may be the worst team to ever be 31-0 at anything but if they lose their conference tournament they still better be in the NCAA draw. The 11th best team in the SEC can fuck all the way off.
