I have just come back Myanmar 🇲🇲 where I spent two weeks traveling around the resistance-held territories of the Sagaing region. Its a remote region which no other foreign press has managed to visit since the start of the war five years ago. I'll share some impressions below 🧵

A major day for EU 🇪🇺 enlargement as four countries (🇺🇦🇲🇩🇲🇪🇦🇱) are making progress in the accession process today. Very encouraging the see the enlargement of the European Union is still on track.

Today is a Super Tuesday for EU enlargement. For the first time in over 2 decades, we are holding four accession conferences on the same day. Our four front runners Ukraine, Moldova, Albania and Montenegro are all taking major steps forward. With Ukraine and Moldova, we are opening Cluster 6, covering areas like defence and security where the case for their EU membership is especially strong. Albania will close its first chapters. And Montenegro is firmly in the endgame of formal negotiations having closed 18 of 33 chapters. Today’s momentum must now be turned into delivery on the ground. My full doorstep:

This clip is very scary! Water levels on the Blue Nile is not natural and is not how it should be at this time of the year. This is very low for mid-July. It was almost flood levels in April when I was there and not this low. This is not a good sign.

Ethiopia 🇪🇹 BREAKING: The TPLF has pubished a statement today, declaring the Pretoria Agreement between Tigray and the federal government to be dead. The TPLF accuses the ENDF of mobilizing for another war, and states it will act accordingly.

It was reportedly to discuss the removal of rubble following the June 24 earthquakes, and nobody knows more about turning things to rubble than these monsters.
