Marvellous to see the lifesaving work of the Royal Bermuda Regiment Coast Guard.   Having recently established a secondary base on St David’s Island, The King has officially opened the new unit, which will complement the existing HQ on the western side of Bermuda.   Yesterday, His Majesty saw the service in action, providing safety of life at sea and tackling illegal fishing and smuggling.

#OTD 1982 I was stationed with portable radio on the bridgewing of HMS Arrow as we came alongside the stricken HMS Sheffield who'd minutes earlier had been hit by an Exocet missile. The brave fight to save her ended with 200+ crew jumping to safety aboard us, 20 men sadly died 🙏
