Hey remember the Okta breach impacting just 1% of their users? Jk they just figured out all their customers were impacted.

Great work as always from Todd and his team. Paraphrasing, but basically: "...and his PhD student just casually fired up his instrument on the international space station and figured out what was going on ..." avweb.com/aviation-news/…

Please note that POC voices are the ones that need to be heard right now. If you are white, please do not comment on anyone's behalf. I need to be held accountable by the communities that I've hurt.

I messed up. It has been brought to my attention that numerous POC are upset with my most recent charity stream with Swarm. I opted to do a charity stream with him because I thought that, since I have a huge experience with charity and because I am an active ally for many under represented groups including POC, that I could help him do some good with his platform. It was never my intention to forgive him on behalf of any community affected by what he's said or done in the past. I understand that since I'm white, I have no say in that matter. However, with me doing a stream with him, it has given the impression that I condone his actions which I do not. I was so set on thinking that this charity collaboration would be such a great way for him to do something good with his platform, that I neglected to think about how this would affect my POC peers and community. I am so sorry for betraying your trust. I am so sorry for making you feel unsafe. I am so sorry for my ignorance and lack of judgement. I never intended for this collaboration to make any POC feel unsafe with me but that is me coming from a place of privilege AND ignorance. For my POC friends, peers and community members, please hear my apology and know that I want to listen and learn on how to be a better ally. I cannot undo what's been done, but I want to know how to improve and to mature and grow. I don't expect anyone's forgiveness, but I hope that you can use this as a teaching moment for me so I can learn from my mistakes. For a start, I have removed Swarm from my spaces and even though it may be a case of "too little too late," I want you to know I'm going to do my best to listen to your criticism and learn from it.

The `ecrecover` precompile generally allows for malleable (non-unique) signatures (introduced in EIP-2 #rationale" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-2#rat…). I wonder if there are use cases for which we need such malleability? If not, I'd actually prefer to "patch" the precompile directly (another EIP lol).

1/ Recently, I discovered a vulnerability in the @0xPolygon zkEVM and earned my first L2 bug bounty from @Immunefi. This vulnerability causes the assets being bridged from the L1 to Polygon zkEVM(L2) cannot be claimed properly in the L2, thus blocking L1->L2 asset migration.

Google choosing to *not* end-to-end encrypt 2FA secrets when backing up Authenticator is not the biggest deal in the world. But definitely another mysterious security decision by Google.
Mysk 🇨🇦🇩🇪@mysk_co

Google has just updated its 2FA Authenticator app and added a much-needed feature: the ability to sync secrets across devices. TL;DR: Don't turn it on. The new update allows users to sign in with their Google Account and sync 2FA secrets across their iOS and Android devices. We analyzed the network traffic when the app syncs the secrets, and it turns out the traffic is not end-to-end encrypted. As shown in the screenshots, this means that Google can see the secrets, likely even while they’re stored on their servers. There is no option to add a passphrase to protect the secrets, to make them accessible only by the user. Why is this bad? Every 2FA QR code contains a secret, or a seed, that’s used to generate the one-time codes. If someone else knows the secret, they can generate the same one-time codes and defeat 2FA protections. So, if there’s ever a data breach or if someone obtains access to your Google Account, all of your 2FA secrets would be compromised. Also, 2FA QR codes typically contain other information such as account name and the name of the service (e.g. Twitter, Amazon, etc). Since Google can see all this data, it knows which online services you use, and could potentially use this information for personalized ads. Surprisingly, Google data exports do not include the 2FA secrets that are stored in the user's Google Account. We downloaded all the data associated with the Google account we used, and we found no traces of the 2FA secrets. The bottom line: although syncing 2FA secrets across devices is convenient, it comes at the expense of your privacy. Fortunately, Google Authenticator still offers the option to use the app without signing in or syncing secrets. We recommend using the app without the new syncing feature for now. #Privacy #Cybersecurity #InfoSec #2FA #Google #Security
